Do you use them, or allow them when you play friendly games? If so, what're some of your favorites?
What're ones you;ve always wanted to try?

We periodically adapt terrain rules if we're not using Cities of Death so that more direct line of sight is in use. It usually just goes in the form of saying that vehicles aren't height 3, but rather can be shot at if they can be seen over the terrain. Our terrain is made pretty well to scale, so it's a bit more realistic.

Our gaming group usually has a rule for painted armies. It states that as long as your army is completely painted you can get 1 free reroll per game on any roll that has not already been rerolled.

Man, I wish I could get away with that one. I'd be the only one to benefit from it, and people are more concerned about the immediate game than having an incentive to actually paint their armies. I'm so sick of playing against unpainted/half-painted stuff...

I know the feeling. But a lot of my gaming group is finally getting off their keisters and getting some painting done.

We used to pass out rerolls and/or extra points to the newer players. During my prime as a leader of the scoreboards in my late teens, our house rule was that anyone that played me used 500 more points than I. I still never lost from that though, heehee.

We have a rematch rule, if you don;t think your army got a fair chance then next game we both bring the same armies and the one that lost gets to pick either table edge or first go, whichever he didn't get last time (only one though, even if you lost both rolls last time) and then we roll for the other. You could also trade that in for your choice of missions if you want.

However, should you win the rematch, the other guy is allowed to say "You only won because I let you go first." Same payoff that the loser of a rules debate gets. "You only won because we agreed that counted as a bunker instead of area terrain." ;-)

house rules

these are all good rules to use but the main rule we use is that your opponent checks over your army lists to check that the points are what they say you are and so you dont say certain models have equipment which you havent paid for.

One of the house rules I made up is a Lasdesignator which once a game calls in a melta torpedo (large blast, unlimited range s8 ap1 2d6 penetrate). KABLAM!
