So i've painted 9 old Starquest chaos marines in a Black Legion theme. A bit more bronze, some less steel, though.
I called them "The Bronze Watch". In my fluff they are a small pack of long service veterans (the champion stormed the gates of the Emprah palace!), the only survivors of a greater warband.
They have never been seen without armour and they never talk, never sleep and seemingly, never eat nor drink! They are granted as a "gift", a bodyguard to The Overlord, an envoy of Abaddon tasked to control my Legion of Perfects movements.
The Bronze Watch is a grim fighting force, that mainly relies upon bolters, but have deadly skills in cc, having mastered a secret fighting stile, using their power armoured bare hands.
Now, my question is: how could i represent such a determined and elite force? I was tempted to use Chosen w/VotLW to grab some special weapons. All their weirdness would then come from implants and terrible body modifications.
However, due to their creepy habit of never removing armour and seeming absence of phisiological needs, and also due to the fact that they are survivors, i was even thinking to use the plague marines rules (staunch defenders, secret fighting style goes with poison 4+) with their habits explained with the fact that they are now mummified corpses inside an armour...
What do you guys think?

You could go Thousand Sons by the sound of them, but with the two options you present, I would go for the nurgle theme, very tough so good body guards and a nice idea to be in fancy armour but rotten to the core underneath

Thanks Oldman. yes, the thousand sons had come to me too, but the need for a sorceror in the unit kinda breaks it. :)
