I can't decide which army to collect.

I want an army that is fun to paint(little or no clones), but is fairly cheap to collect.
Tactically I want a slight challenge (i'm not a beginner, but no pro either.)

Any advice?

At the top if this forum there is a pinned topic "Picking your Army," or something to that effect. That thread lists the pros and cons of each army based on tactical versatility and painting.

i want to say Chaos Spcae Marines but if you want a fun job painting and a challenge go tyranid they look really awesome when you get them painted up good. but if you want to be cool you will simply play chaos.

Everyone is a traitorous scum at heart.

Eldar, though challenging, is also fun to paint - so I have heard.

My bet is on Space Marines.
One for the SM's!!! We have one for the SM's

Anymore?

Anymore Bets People?!!

Any takers for the long shot IG? I'm giving 10 - 1 on the IG, 8 - 1 On the Space Lizards, Do i hear Space Lizards?!! And 3 - 1 on the Heretic Scum, Any takers for the Heretics?!

Come on people!! PLACE YOUR BETS!!!!

If I had a greater budget, I would get tyranids maybe.

So, I'm stuck between BA, CSM and Eldar.
Have you ever painted models before? If you have any prior experience, try Eldar. If not, I would try either CSM or BA, as that is more of a preference between rules and not so much color schemes.

The thing to note about Eldar is that they are broken down into units that serve specific roles, while Marines - loyal and traitor - are very versatile and can do a number of things on their own.
