Well i finally finshed my orges (1500 points) and want to start a second army. Heres what ive decided and some questions.

Dark elves- i love the corsairs models and cold ones. I work well with elite arimes but ive heard that dark elves are a aggresvie army. Also is thier codex filled with the same "kill everything for the sack of violence and vengence+really dark artwork" deal that the DE 40k codex has going and does Eternal haterd let me re-roll all missed attacks in all rounds of combat.

Lizerdmen-After reading the 8th ed rule book and checking thier stats they look solid. I like the slaan's uber magic abalities and the temple guard models. Can i field a army of them without skinks, foucsing manliy on saurus and temple guard. And how hard are they to paint, i was thinking a reagl blue paint scheme instead of the super bright GW one.

O&G- I want to field a goblin army but with black orks and a warboss because i love the models. Is it better to bring normal goblins or night goblins and are thier archers worth it? also is the magic any good?

Thanks all.

If you're asking about Dark Elves being fleshed out more than their 40k brethren, then yes. If you're asking if the artwork is all dark and grim. Oh god yes. Hatred lets you reroll missed attacks in the first round of combat, favoring the Dark Elves highly aggressive but fragile nature. Regardless, with units like Black-Guard, Hydras, and others, they can put out consistent kills. Probably one of the more diverse armies out there in terms of tactics.

Yes, you can field an army without skinks, in fact, apart from the skirmishers Skinks are apparently not even that good. I can't comment on the hard to paint part, however.

As far as I remember, you're free to mix-and-match, which would actually be recommended this edition. Their archers are probably like the rest of the models, in that they suck, but they are cheap. Orc magic is actually safer than other magic now, because their miscast chart isn't as nasty. You can't spam shamans now, but you can still take enough to get a decent magic phase.

Thanks all.

I would suggest using night goblins in the new edition. They are cheaper meaning to can field bigger units of them. A unit of 40 with nets and a cheap combat hero is going to pack some punch. I am not sure about archers in the new edition they have poor range and with all the new scenery in 8th they might not even get to shoot. But they are dead cheap and are able to pump out a lot of shots. There magic is also pretty good, Although the lore isn't as devastating as the new 8th ed ones they use a softer miscast table, so you won't be losing half you army if you roll a double 1.

So yeah Goblins are pretty viable as an army with the ability to field tons of troops and lots of hero's. Heck you could even have a hero for every squad, you can have lots of little shamans running around the board creating a devastating magic phase. For your special choices you can field tons of goblin chariots and war machines to support your main troops. And finally for the rare choices you can take giants, trolls and doom divers. The Giants and Trolls just got a whole lot better with access to thunder stomp and stop attacks at the end of combat:biggrin:

I hope that information helps you. Good luck with choosing your army

the other guys have answered most of what you've asked so i'll just add that lizardmen are easy to paint. Spray them white and use a 50/50 mix of thraka green and devlan mud wash generously applied and the skin and scales come up a treat. Its then simply a case of picking out the details and weapons. Very easy and effective paint scheme.
