This is just an odd question, but for a fast attack unit is a Hellhound worth the point cost for the flame cannon or should i go for sentinels with autocannons? i've got a plan set up with 2 Leman Russ and 3 Chimeras, and the 3 chimeras have heavy flamers on them. my question is when it comes down to supporting the Verteran squads inside them, should i play linebacker with the Hellhound or Fire support with the Sentinels?

Hellhoud with multiple melta will take most things also with better ac than sentinels and guaranteed hit with inferno cannon if you fire it and with it's strength you can pop tanks with it too on rear armour

thats what i'm thinking, Plus my Vet squads will have Meltas so it'll be a hay-day no matter what they throw at me. i just didn't know if maybe the Hellhound was just a cheap extra tank or not, if thats the case though should i keep 2 Erradicator(or Exterminator, i don't have the Codex, Anti Tank model) or have 2 Erris and a Demolisher tank? i want to build my Leman Russ to support my Forward assault, so if the Vets/chimera/and Hellhounds will be ok against armor should i use my Leman Russ for Anti Tank or Anti Infantry?

Leman Russ is better for anti tank, but it can do some solid damage against troops as well. Get an earthshaker cannon for your back line.

Well, how are you for autocannons? You want plentiful vehicle suppressant firepower as well as anti-tank weapons, and the autocannon will frequently be more useful against other things than a MM.

In the end you need to build an all-comers' list that covers all the bases, good against -
GEQ
MEQ
TEQ
Hoards
and has enough -
anti-tank
anti-infantry
anti-MC
so just take the vehicles and weaponnry that covers those threats, build in redundency so several units can overlap on those roles and you're good to go.

The Hellhound is great against non SM-type lists and Hoards, but adding a Hull MM is a good idea because seen as it's fast an opportune AT shot usually comes along in a game.

Nothing wrong with Scout Sentinels with an AC either, but you will need 2/3 in a squadron to ensure a kill. They can tar-pit as well which can come in handy for tying up an expensive assaulty unit for a bit, although Armoured ones are slightly better at it, but more expensive also.
