Hey everyone,
I want to create a SM Chapter that focuses on Heavy Weapons and less on close combat.
Their "special ability" should be to be able to fire their Heavy Weapons while marching onto the enemy.
Naturally, I first looked at the Devastator Squad.
Despite the problem here,
I made the Devastator Squads into a Troop choice.
(Mainly for fluff reasons)
The Special Ability (named Steady Advance) should work like this:
The unit can CHOOSE to move only d6". If they do so, they still count as stationary for firing their rapid fire and heavy weapons.
If the unit is firing in the shooting phase, they may not assault as usual.
For the special ability I see two options:
a) Give all Devastator Squads the ability (too powerful?)
b) Give an Elite Unit (i.e. the Sternguard Veterans) the ability (too restricted?)
I don't know what will be more balanced.
Also, I don't know what the ability should cost (5 pts per model?).
or if the ability is in fact so great at all, or too powerful?!
I really could use some feedback/brainstorming now.
Thanks for reading, and hopefully for constructive replies.
