Hello all,

I have recantly had a disscussion/argument with a Gw staff member about Guardian heavy weapon platforms, i think they are good and add a much needed boost in fire power to the squads but this guy in Gw said the complete oppopsite.

I quote "they rubbish and to expensive for what they do, they cant even embark in Wave serpants". Is he wrong? or do some of you budding players out there agree? I on the other hand do not think they are to expensive and with the option to embark transports along with the squad, i think they make for great objective sitters.

Your oppinions if you please.

Are you talking about the heavy weapons like the Bright lance, thats bought with the squad or the support weapons that are bought as a heavy support choice?

The troop ones are very good, and they can embark on a WS, they take up no room in the serpent to all intent and purpose the platform is just a marker but doesn't use a slot. They make great cheap objective scoring units.

If your talking support weapons like the d-cannon, then they are bad especially compared to the falcon wraith lord and fire prism.

Yes Guardians and there platform can enter any transport proving it has enought room to hold all the GUARDIANS and any Warlocks that may be with them. Once again half the GW staff can't play there own f-ing game.

On a side note. I find that most eldar players are in 2 catagorys. They eaither love Guardians or they love Dire Avengers. I'm in the former as i run foot slogging armys so i need the range of those platforms...that and Scatter lasers are god!!!

The old Codex didn't allow embarked platforms, plus they were optional. New codex they are mandatory so they may embark.

Take Scatter Lasers. With BS of 3 you need a high rate of fire to actually achieve much with them.

My rule of thumb is:

Transport Dire Avengers
Footslog Guardians

An Avatar is worth it's weight in gold in a footslogging Guardian army! :victory:

Bleah. They're crap, although as others have pointed out they can embark. I wouldn't field them. They need, quite frankly, the option of taking more than one in the squad or a support weapon or two. I mean, the "suppress things until kingdom come with Vibrocannons" trick would actually be worth something if they took a troops slot and were scoring. Two of them means you roll to hit twice and get a "full" hit 75% of the time, ignoring non-area cover terrain is almost cool... they could be an alternative to rangers as objective campers.

See, I almost put a snarky comment saying that I knew you were going to reply with roughly that comment, but I'm trying to cut down on longwindedness.

I still think they suck, and I still wouldn't field them. I also wouldn't bet on myself if I was facing you and your list consisted wet paper bags, however.
