The spainish team, i felt, cheated they won about half the awards (felt like it ) Made me think that maybe one or two of the people painted the models for them and they just handed them in. Not disputing they dont deserve to win since they are well painted i just get suspsious when so many from the same "team" win all the models and they ain't even from a uk Games workshop so no one can check.

the fact is lads the GDUK is the best and most competitive BECAUSE of all the european teams. spanish team have been entering for years, they won 8 daemons and the swords last year, 7 awards the year before, before that its was team toulouse. we, the british painters need to get off our arses and stop whining like little girls about it, get out own painting teams together and improve out skills across the board. instead of being secretive and working individually, which we have always tended to do.

so stop complaining and get groups of painters together like the NW of england is doin and increase ur skills!

having said that i do beleive that a certain 'clean' style is favoured, which so happens to be wot the spanish team do, alot of british artists at GD have spat their dummies out and called it favouritism, thats taking it a bit too far for me, but it will be very interesting to see all the entries together to see if their is a theme

We have Team Canada here as well and they all get together, share ideas and painting tips and hit all the painting comps together.

to be honest i really dont see where the bad feelings come in. Take a look at the entries, they are awesome. its not a team sport, so the best painters should win, not countries. I think no matter who won some guys would be complaining that there own style wasn't favoured, or that there was some sort of favouritism.
Why would the ukgd judges favour spain? they would have no reason too. I know a guy whos an awesome painter, who's entered before and claims that theres no point in entering because the judges go round and pick out there mates models. What a load of bullshit. If that was the case none of the overseas teams would win. IMO its just a shame we just get to see the top 3 of each catagory, because there is so much talent and so much inspiration to be gained from these models.

I do hope they'll get some more pics up somewhere soon, both from the winners and honorable mentions. Especially of my fav categories duel and open category :wink:

i hope the GDUK copies the americans and adds honourable mentions, i doubt it because the yanks (as far as i know) dont sell their GD suppliments seperatly

That would be correct-- GD stuff appears in White Dwarf stateside, including honorable mentions and submission rules.

Its not that the models are bad i think its just the distrust that they painted the models themselves and that for a UK gamesday its players from another country thats winning instead of talented painted thats the uk gamesday is supposed to serve especially when the said country has a GD of their own.
