So after reading the new 7th ed rule book it got me thinking about the current game sizes..and how the can/cant be played...

currently the standard game is what 1850...? but with the inclusion of super heavies etc...
its seems to me that to be semi competitive 1850 really isint going to cut it...
do you think that this is deliberate on the part of GW?..pushin game size up to increase sales? seems logical.

what do you think the standard game size will be and why?

personally....its going to be 2k+..if you wish to run super heavies and still be competitive...but i could be wrong..

You are probably right. Super heavies in an 1850 doesn't leave you much room for other things. At least not for me. I usually like to run lists of 2000 to 2500 though so mine won't change a lot, I'll just have a big chunk of it spent on a single model...and I'll probably pay the price for it when I gelt melta'd to scrap.

well just seeing how badly the new psyker phase is going to be abused...especially with daemons and the share amount of dice they will get for summoning..you going to need something that can literlay..destroy said units in 1 go...other wise..but turn 2 you might as well concede...

Game size depends where you live. 1500 is still the standard where I play even when escalation came out. Although I'm not sure that will change with 7th.

The standard in my area is either 1500pts to make sure we can finish our game without rushing on club night or 1750pts if we wanna bring something extra in our armies for fun, i have never actually encountered 1850pts games, is there a reason for that size in other areas that im missing?

Must admit I've never come across a 1850 army always been 1500 or 1750 for special events, though with he low models coming out I forsee bigger points games on the horizon at tournies (GW will want to make money from these big kits after all)

There's definite game size creep. Moving from 2nd ed to 3rd ed, the cost of all models was cut in half; marines went from 30 points base to 15. There by doubling the models required for the same points value game.

I can only imagine GW is trying new ways to do this.
