Ok, I've been playing GK & IG since 2004, but have moved away from my IG since 5th. I'm currently working on BA 1000 pnts (had extra SM models around) and my next army I'm focusing on is Daemons enforce.

In the mean time however my friends are tiring of playing my GK's so I figured I could dust off the old IG and giver'er ago again. We are playing 750 pnt, and like I said I've been only playing GK since 2010 and I'm not looking to make something monstrous I just want to make sure I don't get tabled with my IG newbness .

Please let me know what you think I'll be playing CSM

CCS - 68 pts
Vets x 4 - Sniper Rifle
CC - LasP; CCW

Vets - 160
Veterans x 9 - 2 x MG; 7 x LG
Vet Serg - LasP; CCW
Chimera - Multi Las/Hull HB

Guardsman x 9 - Melta; 8 x LG

Guardsman x 9 - Melta; 8 x LG

Leman Russ Demolisher - Camo Net; Spon HB; Hull HB

750 on the nose with a total model count of 53.

I could see dropping the sponson HB from the Demolisher for something else, but went this way will see what you all have to say.

Standard LR battle tanks are the shit at low points.

Also, if you have any good GK ideas I'd love to hear them or see a list. I always struggle with those point heavy psykers.

I was thinking of the LR Dem as we will be playing on a 4x4 table, and thought with Camonet & Ruins getting a 3+ CS on that sucker with a S10 AP2 cannon of death (was my fav. tank back in the good old days of 3rd).

I enjoyed fielding demolishers on 4x4, they are really big deal at that close quarter battle. The 3x HB setup may net you some extra kills, HF may do ok if all you are looking for is to shield your cannon from weapon destroyed results. The snapshooting after you've shot your main gun reduces sponson effectiveness, but hey, it's totally worth it.

I have a love hate relationship with sniper rifles on account of my bad rolling, but I can definitely see the attraction... I'd consider dropping them and the SGT BG for an autocannon in the command squad to give a bit more punch if you wanted to be more competitive. Also consider the astropath, the chance to get invisibility is justification enough.

Meltavets in APCs is just as good a strategy now as it was before, before regular guardsmen still die fast once they are out of cover - why have you given them melta instead of heavy weapons?

Simply I love Melta's and I've broken down all my IG HW teams from back in the day for other converts as I haven't really had a love to play them. Could drop the Melta's for PG, or an AC.

Other reason I prob chose Melta's instead of HW, is being so used to my GK's and I never put Heavy weapons on my troops as I love getting into assault ASAP, and always an Assault gun ie S6 AP4 Incinerators.

I agree with Inv I run that in larger GK games when I bring my IK - Gerantius The Forgotten Knight ... gets completely ungodly when I make it Inv with a GK Lib

Our game got pushed off ... blah ... however will tweak the list and repost tomorrow.

Looking forward to how you do!

I wouldn't necessarily advocate getting stuck into close combat with those guardsmen though...
