*"candy" being a metaphorical term for the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you greet a new forum member.

Hi there. I've been a 40K afficianado for quite a while. I picked up my first Games Workshop miniatures catalogue when I was 13, and I'm 25 now, so that's almost half my life! Impressive, or sad? You make the call.

I've been a big fan of Tyranids for years, but have just recently solidified an army. Good thing, too, because I'd be pretty cheesed off if I were stuck with 2000 points worth of turkey-necked Tyranid Warriors instead of their modern very-cool interpretation. I can remember my first game of 40K ever, using Chaos Marine "Mind Slaves." Yeah. Crazy stuff. I also collect Necrons, and have a smallish Genestealer Cult army. Remember the 'Cult?

Lately, I've been toying with the idea of starting a Space Ork army, or branching into Warhammer Fantasy and going with Dwarves.

And that's all I got to say about that.

Welcome aboard! I'm a local Warboss who'd be more than happy to share lots of information on my Orkish army and the tactics I use if you like. I've got a decent tactica started in the articles section if you want to know more about the Greenskinned lads. It'll take you through each unit type and possibly help you decide if you like them.

Certainly do! I'm just beginning to dust off my old Cult, and I thought I'd do a forum search to see if anyone else is playing them, and it brought me here.

Welcome!

Cool! If you don't mind my asking, what models did you use for Brood Brothers? Predictably, I went the blue and purple Tallarn Desert Raiders route.

Believe it or not, I still get a fair amount of use out of my Cultists. My group is addicted to Kill Team scenarios, and with a little homebrew rules modications, the Cult works wonderfully.

Well, I'm literally only just getting back into the game, after a very long absence, so I don't know exactly what I had in my Cult (it's in storage at the moment). I started building it during 1st Ed though, so most of the models are really old; in fact, the newest models I had were plastic Genestealers!

My Brood Brothers were the old modular Imperial Guardsmen, the ones with the shoulder pads, big helmets and (what looked like) sunglasses. I think I had about ten of them (although I seem to remember that they came in boxes of forty or something equally insane), including one with a Lascannon (back then, there was no such thing as an IG weapon team!). Because I was young and foolish, I painted them in a horrible pinkish-purple with blue bits. Uck. Worse, I bought a Rhino and painted it in the same Genestealer purple...

I don't know if I'll be able to rescue the old figures for my new Cult, but even if not, I'm thinking of getting the Cadian box set for the Brood Brothers, and I have this crazy idea about using the plastic Empire Militia box set (for WFB) for the Initiates; WS/BS 2 and no save is terrible, but twenty 4pt Infiltrating figures is twenty shots not aimed at my Genie broods!

If I can't rescue my old Hybrid models, I may have to scratch build some from Orks and extra Genie arms. We'll see. The Magus and Patriarch are metal models, so they'll be easily stripped for repainting.

This time around, I'm going to veer away from the traditional Genie colour scheme and go for black/dark grey chitin with greenish-grey flesh. The IG will have the same black/dark grey for their body armour, and either a plain grey for their fatigues, or an urban camo pattern if I can make it work. I don't know how I'll do the Initiates yet, but I'm a terrible figure painter (or at least I was ten years ago!), so I'm going to try and keep things simple.

Rules wise, I'm basing my new Cult on the 3rd Ed list published in Citadel Journal #40, as it's fully legal and 99% compatible with 4th Ed. I've never played 40K with missions before, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the Cult works in different situations; I imagine any mission in which they have to defend will end in tears for me!

Sorry, rambled on a bit there.

Heh, I feel your pain. Once upon a time, I had a Cult Rhino, too. Mine was mostly blue with some violet details, so it wound up looking rather like the foppish wing of the Ultramarines going to war.

Love the idea of using Empire troops for your Brood Brothers! I hope you'll tell us how they turn out!

Yeah, no matter how many bitz I glued to it to make it look mean, my Rhino still looked like a Lovewagon...

I might start a thread somewhere here as I build up the Cult. We'll see.

I've got to sort my "first 500" out first, and the militia/initiates will be in the second 500pt block, so it might be a while before I get round to them!
