Sons of Horus Reaver Attack Squad

Reaver squads in many ways epitomised the Sons of Horus Legion’s way of war. Heavily influenced by the tactics used in the incessant tribal warfare of Cthonia, Reaver units specialised in lightning-swift assaults which maimed and disabled their foes; striking down leaders, and mercilessly cutting down any who were weak or isolated. Each Reaver unit, whether squad or entire company in strength, was effectively a warband in its own right, and its warriors fought more as individuals than regimented soldiers, and all were utterly lethal against the enemies of Mankind during the Great Crusade.

The Sons of Horus Reaver Squad, designed by Alfonso Giraldes, is a multi-part resin kit containing five incredibly detailed Space Marines, five bolt pistols, five chain axes, a power fist, a hand flamer, five helmeted heads and one Sergeant head. This kit is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 2nd August.

Legion Despoiler Squads

If fighting is expected to be at close quarters, such as in boarding actions or trench clearance, Tactical squads can sometimes forgo the standard bolter in favour of the combination of a bolt pistol and chainsword, allowing the Astartes more manoeuvrability in whatever tight confines they may find themselves in. These more assault orientated units are referred to as Despoiler Squads within the Legiones Astartes.

The Mk II, Mk III and Mk IV Despoiler Squads, designed by Will Hayes, are complete multi-part resin kits comprising five Space Marines armed with bolt pistols and chainswords. All three kits are available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 2nd August.

Wasn't just me who thought that then.

Underwhelming releases once again, the majority of this heresy stuff has just been boring, oh well, maybe next Friday they'll make me happy with a selection of Russ Ryza pattern eradicator, punisher and conquerer turrets.

These guys will make kick ass close combat chosen for the csm book.

Individual releases may not be exiting but the bigger picture most definitely is.

There is also a new Apoc book coming out. Of course to add to the confusion with the old one it is also called "Imperial Armour: Apocalypse". Here's the contents page from the website:

The book will be available in limited quantities at Games Day and then released later.

These models are a little lackluster. But that contents page has me intrigued. I see some new stuff. Or they just renamed old stuff.

Honestly, that IA contents page catches my interest far more than forgeworlds "MORE MARINES!!" HH stuff.

Although a lot of the chaos stuff just looks like their versions of imperial units. Let's hope they are sufficiently different and that the new daemonlords kick as much ass as usual.

Not really interested with the Heresy stuff, I've already got enough aremies on the go in 40k, without starting to collect and play 30k as well, and while I appreciate good work that FW are doing bringing the Heresy to the tabletop, I kind of feel that their regular 40k contributions are suffering though. Having said that though I do plan on getting the rule books though because of the wealth of background material they contain. Also when they get around to finally covering the DA, I'm considering adapting some of the units, weapons and special rules for use in Apoc to represent the Consecrator's element of my "Grand Army of the Unforgiven". I am excited by the new Apoc book though, especially the Vraks stuff, as I want to do a Alpha Legion army with some renegade guardsmen and militia allies. I'll definately be getting this book, sooner rather than later.

Hell, i can build these units with stock standard plastic Chaos Space Marines, and on the issue of Forgeworld miniatures, some look like they've tripped over while running, the same as those Khorne Berzerkers.
