Washes

I personally don't like to wash my golds. I know they may pop out a little better, but i like the "shinning" on the "shinning gold".

My chaos army is devoted to the black legion and I really like the final effect. Even on my eldar i do that.

But thanks for the advice. I will try the black wash on the metals in a future model.

Nuln Oil will definitely make the metals look more, "metal". I agree with the brown wash, it gives the gold a warm look while not taking away from the shine. If anything it makes it more gold, lol. All personal preferences though.

All in all looking great. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

A very nice looking model. You don't have to wash if you don't feel the need. Personally I would just add a small amount around rivets just to break up the flatness, but as has been said this is a personal preference.
