FLGS 1750 Hybrid

Generally have only been playing incredibly small games (<400pts) with friends, but am wanting to branch out into larger games at my LGS. So here goes with my first 1750 list:

HQ

Autarch 130
- EJB, Laser Lance, Mandiblasters

Farseer 155
- RoWit, RoWard, Fortune, Doom, Spirit Stones

Elite

Harlequin Troupe 184
- 6 Harlequins w/ kiss
- 1 Shadowseer w/kiss

Fire Dragons 190
- 6 Fire Dragons
- Waveserpent w/ SS, TL SC

Fire Dragons 190
- 6 Fire Dragons
- Waveserpent w/ SS, TL SC

Troop

6 Pathfinders 144

6 Pathfinders 144

Guardian Jetbike Squadron 76
- 3 Guardian Jetbikes w/ ShuriCans

Guardian Jetbike Squadron 76
- 3 Guardian Jetbikes w/ ShuriCans

Fast Attack

Shining Spears 227
- 4 Shining Spears
- 1 Exarch w/ StarLance, Withdraw

Heavy Support

Fire Prism 115

Fire Prism 115

Total: 1746

------

Tactics are to infiltrate/deploy my pathfinders on objectives near/in my deployment zone and have them sit tight in cover taking potshots. Fire prisms provide screening to the pathfinders. Autarch joins the shining spears and acts as a harassment unit. Also for last turn objective taking/contesting. The harlies with the farseer are my hole patcher unit, while my fire dragons do what they do best (well other than dying).

1500pts - Drop a Fire Dragons unit
2000pts - Either a Seer council or more troops/fast attack.

Any advice would be welcome.

id get rid of either one of the da units or the bike unit and lower the other one to 6 or 5 so that you could get another squad of fire dragons in a wave serpent because that will do some serious damage to tanks and you can never have to many small squads of fire dragons

you should play test it but the farseer might feel a bit wasted sitting in the back with a falcon

you might also want to change the falcon to a ws with a bl or an eml especially if you get the second fd unit because thatd be a good addition and save you some points

id also playtest the da units in general because they have a 18 range they dont really get into range quickly so maybe you would switch one for a squad of pathfinders because then youd have a unit to sit on home objectives and still threaten a large radius and be very safe

id also get rid of the underslung cannon on the fd serpent because itll just be moving alot and not standing around to shoot the cannon so maybe the points are better spent elswhere

holofeilds might be useful you might want to try them out but if you are careful and keep them back it wont be too big a problem but the upgrade does help ALOT.

hope that helped and good luck with the list!

Thanks for the feedback Draidgen. Reading through what you said, and after talking to a couple of my friends, have come up with a slightly different list. Have updated the OP.

Fire Dragons Exarch - Should I leave him with the bog standard melta gun, or give him the heavy flamer? Leaning towards keeping the melta, but would like opinions.

Fire Dragon Exarch? TBH he may not even be necessary, 6 normal Fire Dragons are typically enough to handle a tank, and for the amount of points invested into each Exarch you can almost have 2 more Fire Dragons. I have yet to see 8 Fire Dragons not kill whatever I send them after (barring bad to Hit rolls, but Exarch won't help that much). But if you are confident in the tank killing power of 5 Dragons (even without Tank Hunters you stand reasonable odds) then a Flamer may be a good choice for you.

A Dragon Breath Flamer with Crack Shot is pretty fun, but that would make that Exarch way way too expensive.

I would go without an exarch however i have had good things about the flamer with an exarch because it adds versatility. I tend to keep my fds destroying tanks in a 5 man squad but a 6 man squad is a sure fire way to destroy whatever your shooting at. So after trying out the exarch if you want to maybe try to drop him and just keep the 6 fds.

Also the emls wont be that useful on the fd tanks because my fd tanks are always moving the full 24 so that the fd can get to the enemies tanks asap and do their thaaaang, so you culd also try them with just sc.

With those saved points you could add some more harlies/bikes which would never hurt, or try out those holofeilds, whichever.

Overall the list looks alot better and without some major changes this looks like its just about as fun/competitive as itll get for now. Once you playtest it alittle you might find some preferences (such as maybe changing the autarch on a bike to a farseer on a bike or eldrad and putting him with the unit of harlies) but it seems good and you have to tell me how it fares because it looks like an interesting list. Good luck and KICK SOME ASS!

good advice.

i'd drop Yriel or Jet Autarch. if you drop Yriel, add in a Farseer to the Harlies. if you drop the Jet Autarch, try to add a Jetseer to the biker squadron; give him Fortune.

certainly drop the Exarchs to boost any thing you can: more Harlies, more Pathfinders would be a useful.

good hunting.

Well as much as both my Autarch and Yriel destroy most things that they come into contact with, I see that you have a point Malaclypse. I have dropped Yriel in favour of a doom toting Farseer.
Also have dropped the FD Exarchs in favour of restructuring my jetbikes and adding some Shining Spears.
