Apparently I should write army lists after getting up in the morning more often because I think I've finally found a list that I'm really happy with.

HQ: Librarian (1#, 110 pts)
1 Librarian @ 110 pts (...in Power Armour; Blood Lance; Shield of Sanguinius)
1 ...in Power Armour (Hand Flamer)

HQ: Librarian (1#, 110 pts)
1 Librarian @ 110 pts (...in Power Armour; Blood Lance; Shield of Sanguinius)
1 ...in Power Armour (Hand Flamer)

Troops: Assault Squad (5#, 125 pts)
3 Assault Squad @ 125 pts (Meltagun)
1 Assault Marine with Meltagun
1 Sergeant (Bolt Pistol; Infernus Pistol x1)

Troops: Assault Squad (5#, 125 pts)
3 Assault Squad @ 125 pts (Meltagun)
1 Assault Marine with Meltagun
1 Sergeant (Bolt Pistol; Infernus Pistol x1)

Troops: Assault Squad (6#, 195 pts)
3 Assault Squad @ 195 pts (Remove Jump Packs; Meltagun; Razorback)
1 Assault Marine with Meltagun (Remove Jump Packs)
1 Sergeant (Remove Jump Packs; Bolt Pistol; Power Weapon x1)
1 Razorback (Extra Armor; Twin Linked Assault Cannon)

Troops: Assault Squad (6#, 195 pts)
3 Assault Squad @ 195 pts (Remove Jump Packs; Meltagun; Razorback)
1 Assault Marine with Meltagun (Remove Jump Packs)
1 Sergeant (Remove Jump Packs; Bolt Pistol; Power Weapon x1)
1 Razorback (Extra Armor; Twin Linked Assault Cannon)

Troops: Assault Squad (6#, 195 pts)
3 Assault Squad @ 195 pts (Remove Jump Packs; Meltagun; Razorback)
1 Assault Marine with Meltagun (Remove Jump Packs)
1 Sergeant (Remove Jump Packs; Bolt Pistol; Power Weapon x1)
1 Razorback (Extra Armor; Twin Linked Assault Cannon)

Troops: Tactical Squad (11#, 265 pts)
9 Tactical Squad @ 265 pts (Flamer; Missile Launcher; Rhino)
1 Sergeant (Melta Bombs; Bolter; Power Fist x1)
1 Rhino (Extra Armor)

Fast Attack: Baal Predator (1#, 145 pts)
1 Baal Predator @ 145 pts (Heavy Bolter)

Fast Attack: Baal Predator (1#, 145 pts)
1 Baal Predator @ 145 pts (Heavy Bolter)

Heavy Support: Dreadnought (1#, 120 pts)
1 Dreadnought @ 120 pts (Twin Linked Autocannon; Twin Linked Autocannon)

Heavy Support: Dreadnought (1#, 120 pts)
1 Dreadnought @ 120 pts (Twin Linked Autocannon; Twin Linked Autocannon)

Total Roster Cost: 1850

So the theme is a Razor-heavy medium to close ranged shooting army with some assault elements.

All told this list has 35 power armored infantry, four transports, two battle tanks and two Dreadnoughts which isn't half bad at this point level. Lots of people aren't down with the extra armor on the transports but I politely send a ':p' in their general direction since that particular upgrade has saved my skin on many a time.

I'm mostly concerned about being out-assaulted by armies that do the whole assault thing better than I do (Space Wolves, certain Blood Angel builds, some Tyranid lists and so on) but I'm not sure where I can pick up more assaulty goodness without having to remove more than the Tactical Squad (who at the moment are there entirely to help me dislodge units hiding in cover). Been considering an assaulty Honor Guard in a Rhino, but we'll see.

Suggestions anybody? :)

it looks like a great list when you get 1st turn

Troops: Tactical Squad (11#, 265 pts)
9 Tactical Squad @ 265 pts (Flamer; Missile Launcher; Rhino)
1 Sergeant (Melta Bombs; Bolter; Power Fist x1)
umm, i dont think its worth taking MELTA BOMBS when you have a power fist on the sarg.

and it may just be me, since i do not own a BA dex yet but
1 Sergeant (Bolt Pistol; Infernus Pistol x1)
how can the sargent have TWO pistols?

Looks fun... how do you think it would scale to 2k? Only concern is range... but I'm assuming the plan would be to centrally deploy and drive down their throats?
It'd likely scale just fine. I actually just took Stelek's Razorspam list and scaled it down, then tweaked it to fit my model collection, so to scale up to say 2K I guess I'd just copy the 2K Razorspam verbatim, or at least as close as possible.

First turn helps, but I don't need it to win.

Usually it's not. I was just trying to burn my last five points, though I've since dropped the melta bomb for a bunch of searchlights.

If you had the 'dex, you'd know. :)

it's a fine list, especially if taking into consideration model restrictions.

the Libbies are good. i prefer Chappies, but to each their own.

i would be tempted to combine the two small jump pack RAS to one larger RAS. it's just that i'd rather have a larger assault unit, and split it if i have to during deployment.

that being said, you're current set up is not a detriment. i just like to make Marine assault squads as strong as possible when compared to other CC specialists.

i'd change out the Razorback weaponry to Las/Plas (again, may be a model restriction here) as your RAS will be more effective if you're able to kill armor faster. the two Dreads are good, but 3 LC or plasma shots is nothing to over look and it's a surprising amount of firepower for a BA list at this point level.

i recommend Las/Plas over TL LC as you can be more aggressive with the plasma gun; TLLC IMO lends itself to staying back and lobbing shots.

good list Katie, and good hunting.

Katie usually has these things solid so I thought I'd just throw something out there...

Have you considered running Astorath & a Furioso Librarian? That'd give you your psychic hood & your psychic options, but it would also give you an effective melee unit to hang behind armour ready to counter assault etc. Also, it would boast the chance of giving FC to your troops too.

Just an idea :)

Psychic defense = important. :)

I did consider it, but I get more melta this way, plus people can't accuse me of min-maxing when I'm taking a mighty 5 Troops choices.

It is a matter of model restriction, but also because assault cannons rock hard on Fast vehicles. It's easy as pie to get side armor shots which can absolutely wreck vehicles like Chimeras and Devilfish. The single lascannon shot would be very useful in the early game for cracking battle tanks and the like but I have a good amount of melta for that. The plasma guns are more an anti-infantry or MC thing but I've never found myself lacking in those departments.

Main reasons I stay away from Astorath is that he's quite a bit more expensive than a cheap and cheerful 110 point Librarian (wargear included) and can't fit into a transport. The increased chance of the Red Thirst is fantastic but I just can't justify the increased cost, loss of psychic hood and no only one Blood Lance.

As for the Librarian Dread, I freaking hate those things. Ever since the Blood Angels FAQ came out making them stuck without extra armor I've basically wrote them off as they're too expensive to allow to be soft-killed by Stunning them. Blech.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Also, if it seems like I'm being argumentative, please keep in mind that my intention is only to explain the thinking behind my choices so both those assisting me and others that may be looking on can better understand what I'm trying to do.
