How easy is this to do? I have pretty much no experience with these things. I basically only have three questions, actually:

1. Is it practical to strip tanks? The land raider I'm looking at buying is in pretty bad shape paintwise.

2. Is there any way of loosening the bonds on plastic? Assuming it has been put together with something other than poly cement. (In the case of badly assembled tanks)

3. Is it possible to restore movement to glued down weapon mounts, or are they pretty much stuck forever?

Thanks for your time.

P.S. I thought I heard something about GW ending bits orders at the end of this month. Is this true, or did I just hear it wrong?

1)Yes it is practical to strip tanks(much easier than infantry)
2)the bonds seem to loosen for me along with the paint.
3)as far as restoring movement I've done it for a pintle mounted stormbolter before so it seems feasible.
as far as bitz orders dunno. (BW is a much better place to get bitz anyway.)

Argh. I guess I'd better buy those Yeld Wings for my Seraphim now then. It's a shame, because I wanted to wait.

Why the hell would they do that? Surely they must be profiting from them, they cost more than they would in the boxes!

EDIT: Damn, that's no good. I need Necron/Witch Hunter/Specialist Game bits. Thanks anyway.

1. Yep, tanks are very easily strippable. Just be sure to take get the tank as "open" as possible. So for a landraider try and get that top panel off, if you can't don't worry though as you can get it off later.

2. Depending on what sort stripper you are using then it will do it. Most will do it to a degree. Just got to choose your stripper.

3. Glued in weapons are a pain the ass. The only thing I have glued in the way of weapons is the actual mount of the assualt cannons on a Land Raider Crusader, they do however go up and down. Its something I really regret doing. Basically no you can't. The only ones you can do anything about are side sponsuns. If they are glued up then cut them off and drill a hole in the top mount and put a pin it. They should turn then. Not really a clear description but if you want more info just ask and when I get internet access again I'll try and do a tutorial for you. It may be a week or so though.

4. Yea I'm afraid so mate. They are being replaced with "bitz bags", one of them may have what you want. Other than that, go with Battlewagon Bitz, they will have what you want.

Bitz Bags??? What the hell? That sucks.

The item I'm looking for is a specialist games backpack, (Yeld Spyrer Wings) and I want them to convert an entire squad of seraphim. BW don't have it and I severely doubt they'll be in many bitz bags, especially in the numbers I want them.

Does anyone know the exact date they stop bitz order? Because I might just order them now.

No more bits? Shit, I better order the models for my future Ork/Chaos army now, then!

Be careful with the paint stripper you use, too strong and it will start to melt the landraider itself rather than just the paint so apply whatever your using sparingly.

There are plenty of tutorials on paint removal. You should check those out.
