Got my first two models done, yay! Very happy with the scheme. Didn't have my Marine decal sheets yet, so I don't have tactical symbol on the right shoulder yet, and I need one more coat of solvent on the heart shoulder pad to get rid of the residual wrinkles, but wanted to show the first progress.

Here is the schematics for those that have not read my fluff yet:

And here are the first models so far...

Nice work, quartered schemes are hard to pull off.

thanks guys, it is my first quartered scheme, and it is difficult to make sure you get the line right. I'm having fun with it though as it's bringing life into painting boring space marines :)

You're not really planning on painting the greave icons green are you? Otherwise, the models look great!
Depends on what company I go with. I'm going to follow the codex for company colors (2nd yellow, 3rd red, and so on), but instead of what I have on the schematic, I'm going to do roman numerals in whichever company I figure they represent. I'm torn between a yellow II, a green IV, or black V. Since i'm doing red on a lot of the armor, I won't make the 3rd company.

I think the black V would look the best if you are just putting it straight onto the Red or the Grey, however if you are doing a white base for the company then any of them could work. I just like the black because it is nice and understated. However the green could look really good depending on what shade you go with (I would go with a darker one myself)

Good luck with it.

thanks, they will have the white kneepad on the left leg for the company marking. I am leaning towards the green IV as black is used for so much. And I would definatley do a dark green. Probably Dark Angels Green and then just use Snot Green to lighten it a shade to be seen. It's going to be small enough too that it should just blend in with the whole look and just be seen as a nice detail touch, I'm hoping.

True black is used a lot. Which left are you talking about, their left or our left looking at the picture?

What about the ones with no knee pads (those legs have got to be the most frustrating thing about painting Space Marines, at least I think so anyway)

The marines left, like i have in the schematic pic.

The ones with no kneepads will probably have to forgoe the company mark. Unless you can find a spot on the models I painted for it, let me know :)

Thats some nice fluff you've there, alhtough it does ay in your Apperance section that they have silver chest eagles and in the pictures they are gold. The gold looks better by the way. The Traits also fit the background well.

I have 3 ideas for the company symbol:

1: Just paint a white circle on leg where the knee pad should be and then paint the number in the circle.

2. On the back packs, the flat area in the middle. Although that does mean you will have to file off the vents/skulls that are on some of them.

3: On the backs of their trigger hands since they are almost always able to be seen.

Just a couple of ideas for ya :)

I loathe painting vehicles and I'm not as good as I am at smaller models so the undercoat as you can see got a bit thick. This will be fixed on the other one and I'll live with it on this one as for the most part as far as a tabletop standard, it's decent.
First look at the first of the two drop pods...
