Hey there, after playing 40k for awhile I decided to try my hand at Fantasy taking up the Skaven Army.

This is my first list, feel free to tear it to shreds.

Lords:
Grey Seer 305 Pts
-Warp Energy Condenser
-Talisman Of Preservation

Heroes:
Chieftain 121 Pts
-Shield
-Great Weapon
-Battle Standard Bearer with Razor Standard

Warlock Engineer x2 260 Pts
-Level 1 Wizard
-Warp Stone Armour
-Warp Energy Condenser

Rare:
Warp-lightning Cannon x3 270 Pts

Special:
Rat Ogre x6 265 Pts
-Master Bred

Pack Master x2 16 Pts

Skweel Gnawtooth 100 Pts

Core:
Clan Rats x49 335 Pts
-Full Command
-Spears
-Shields
-Warpfire Thrower

Clan Rats x49 310.50 Pts
-Full Command
-Sheilds
-Warpfire Thrower

TOTAL = 1982.50

The basic idea was to put a Warlock Engineer in each Clan Rat squad along with a Grey Seer and the BSB in the other, trying to generate spell dice with the generators, while firing off Warp Lightning at the enemy.

Hopefully the cannons are softening up the enemy ranks while I advance to try and use the Dreaded Thirteenth spell on expensive units.

Rat Ogres are there to attract fire and hopefully mess some stuff up, lol.

I was thinking of shrinking down to a 1850 point army, a better idea maybe?

Any advice is useful

Thanks.

Well, first off I dont think 3 warp lightning cannons are a good idea, one should be all you need, then you should look into hell pit abominations, they are VERY powerful. For characters I would have another warlock engineer even if he is just a level 1, to throw warp lightning around.

Your clan rat units are a good size but you only have two blocks on the table, that gives you a serious chance of being badly outmanoevered. I would say drop a cannon, drop skweel, and get another unit of around 30 clanrats with shields and spears

Awesome, thanks man. I just thought three cannons as I was quite likely to missfire, lol and wanted something to hopefully take out things like Bolt Throwers and the like. But I can drop some of them.

Is Skweel not worth his points? I just thought the chance of giving such an expensive unit a chance of an actual save would be nice or an extra attack great.

Plus what about the army's point value should it stay at 2000 or should I drop to 1850?

Thanks

2000 is fine for competetive, unless a common game size in your area is differant, then change at your leisure. Skweel is alright, but in this list he isnt really going to be that beneficial to you. In my oppinion at least.
