After being talked to about Serenity the movie for an hour at a Hollywood Video store, I purchased Serenity from there under the assumption it wasn't bad..
Well, I ended up loving it to death. The idea, the setting, all masterful and addictive, which brings me to the topic of Firefly, the short & late tv series Serenity was wrenched from.

AWESOME.

It took me awhile to finish the relatively short season as work and life, etc, but the moment I watched the last created episode I was lost. I can't just sit back and see any more of those great episodes totally worth most-to-all of your time. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen the series or the movie to run out and purchase them immediately, transportation optional.

If anyone has seen these, sound off about what you think. If your opinion is murderously negative, try to keep it nice enough to allow others to want to see it. Favorite character is by far Jayne, the Hero of Caantan, toting his beloved "Vera".

firefly is overall pretty good. Serenity the film is definately above average. i really like the characters and most of the dialogue but there are a few things that grate on me. I think they've tried to mate it too cowboy in some places, although i get the idea that alot of it is set on fronteer? planets, things like the cow herding episode i dont like. the episodes that are just on serenity itself are the best ones. Some of the Characters are great, Mal, jayne, wash, anara, kaylee and river. The other 3 are meh, but i think having 5/6 really good characters is pretty good. i also dont like the chinese swearing. It doesn't quite fit in.

Now Battlestar galatica series 1 and 2. They are absolutely AWESOME. series 3 is not as good so far, but it is easily the best sci-fi series ever made to date.

NOTE: possible spoilers for those who haven't seen Serenity.

Well, the whole thing about the Chinese is that the two cultures that made it off Earth was America and China. Hence the usage of the two.

I saw Serenity. I loved it. I got Firefly over netflix. Loved it even more. It's one of the most underappreciated shows, I think, and Fox killed it before it had a chance. Much like Clone High.

I like Wash the best, I think. Wash or Mal. Inara serves her purpose well enough anyway.

Only problem I had with Serenity was that Wash didn't get enough screentime compared to his role in the series. That's just me, though.

Serenity and Firefly are a ton of weapons-grade awesome.

It is a crying hame they didn't get a chance to really shine. But Joss Whedon is popular and proliffic, I'm sure he;ll get around to doing something else.

I heard there's a firefly MMORPG in the works. I just pray that it doesn't suck.

On a side note, if you liked the blend of action and character deiven humor in Firefly, you;d probably like Buffy the Vampire Slayer (The first season was kind of lame, but it got better quick) and Angel (though I only really cared for the last season or two)

I;d avoided both like the plague until I started watching Firefly. I wish I;d gotten into it sooner.

I love Firefly. The show was just such a good show. My favouite one is 'Out of Gas' where the ship engine breaks and the crew has to leave and the entire episode is done in flashback that Mal has. So damn good. The movie rocked as well. Matter of fact, I love the show so much that any time I paint, I have either it or That 70's Show playing in the background.

I've caught myself whistling the Hero of Caantan song at work lately, lol. There is an easter egg on the last Firefly disc of Jayne singing it in his pink ski hat. When you go to Joss Sing's The Intro, press left on your remote and the tribal logo next to the main image lights up. Just press Play from there and you get to see him sing it and hear it word for word.

Firefly was excellent, one of the only sci-fi series/film that there was actually no sound in space :D
Preacher was my fav character, because in one of the Firefly episodes he was wounded and they had to take him to an alliance base, where hopefully he would recieve treatment, but they wern't going to until they looked at his ID Card, then all of a sudden he was rushed of to hospital. That made you wonder...who the hell is he, not just a Preacher that's for sure...........Cool :D

I think he was an Agent myself. Similar to the one in the movie and got tired of what that entailed.

Aye, rumour churns that he's an Operative. In the last episode, the bounty hunter says "Him? Why, he's no preacher."

Or something to that extent. Any way, it makes sense.
