Are there any armies out there that you feel are the true test of an army? Do you ever make a list and think "Can I beat *blank* with this list?" For me that army is Tyranids. If I am confident that I could take them then I am confident in the list as a whole.

There's not really a better army than yours. Just better opponents. I once got absolutley pasted by Eldar, then we swapped armies and I got pasted again. You have to know how to play. But if I have to pick, I'd say nids. I haven't had the chance to verse Dark Eldar yet though, so I don't know how 'fearsome' they are.

Well I never build my army to beat any particular army (well most the time I dont cause I dont know who Im playing against.. most of my opponents can and will bring diffrent armies to the table) but I've only played 2 games against Eldar and lost them both so right now the army I dread is Eldar.. mostly for the idea that I have no clue about them since I never get to game against them.

We fear that which we do not know....

That's a good question. I think it depends on which army I am using at the time as my Tau have the hardest time with Nids while my Thousand Sons have a hard time vs Eldar. In either case though I don't ever feel that if I can beat a certain army then I am set as that just isn't true. My Thousand Sons might be able to put the hurt on MEQ armies with ease and handle most other fairly well now but Nids and Eldar and the abilities they have which hose psychic abilities really put a cramp on them, as do sheer weight of numbers that Orks can bring to the fore. It is all a matter of perspective really.

I haven't found that army yet, though my IG are the most 'feared' army in my area currently. With the exception of the old Slaaneshi Siren Daemon Bomb list that I faced 2 years ago in a tourney (full game night fight), my IG are undefeated in tourney play and pick up games locally.

I'm looking forward to facing the JSJ Tau army I've heard so much about. There is one Tau player locally who could probably play that list, but he doesn't care much for it, himself. Thus far, I suppose Black Templars with multiple Land Raiders would give me the biggest challenge.

hmm most feared army dunno really only had a few games and ive won em all.

i'd say SM if i had to choose only game where i had diffuculty was when i was just using normal chaos marines befor i got me zerkers. close combat there near enough equally matched.

erm i'd also say kharn cause he's a cunt for killing your own people :p

most feared army for me to play against is definitely the eldar. I don't get to play much and when i do i play 2 on 2. I play chaos, 2 people play blood angels, and 1 plays eldar. lets just say all those guns hurt the marines. plus i hate going up against wraithlords and that Avatar.

I have trouble with well played Necron armies and armies with a lot of indirect-firing ordinance (IG). It gets pretty frustrating when I have to face players that not only have those armies, but know how to use them.

I've never really faced a Nidzilla list, but swarm nids scare the bejeezus out of me. They're fast, really fast, and some of them have rending claws, and blimey they just keep coming. If I'm fielding SMs, nids generally outnumber me pretty heavily and I get swamped; if I'm fielding orks, I don't have enough firepower to thin them out and I get at least bogged down. Either way, it's generally unpleasant.

Horrid gribbly things, nids. Stay away from them.

Since I play mech eldar and DE the armies I have the hardest time against are other mech armies, which usually means Tau. But it also depends on how the other guy plays, since some games are really close and others are total wipes.

Of the two, though, the DE also have a hard time with massed templates and indirect fire since raiders fall over if someone even loks at them twice.
