Hey guys

I was just doing my usual weekend thing i.e. mindlesly wandering the internet and came across the section of the GW site that was about the humble Imperial Guard. I knew that the minature range for the GI was big but I didn't really get how big. So I thought I'd ask the masses of the Heresy Online which set they prefered.

For me it used to be the Cadians untill I got my hands on some and encountered the difficulty of highlighting the cloth. The Praetorians are very nice but so hard to get hold of. Then I found the Vostroyans and I'm having a ball working on a heavy weapons team I bought. Cannot wait to get a full squad of them.

So whats the prefered set of all the rest of you.

Note: I havn't included the Forgeworld mini's because they are, well, Forgeworld and far and away superior to standard GW molds.

You forgot the old RT era Guardsmen, with their shoulder pads and sunglasses! :wink:

Haha my bad, I only saw the ones that were on GW website, those RT era ones are so old that they aren't even in the Classics section.

i voted tallarn. even though theyre old theyre easily better than the plastic cadians. the vostroyans are very nice though, iv got a platoon or so painted up.

I voted Tallarn, as I like the desert gear. I would have voted Praetorian (because they're British!), but they're a bit too gimmicky even for me. I'd have voted in a shot if they'd done them WWII Desert Rat style though; coolest WWII uniform ever! :wink:

It's a shame that they're so expensive nowdays, as I'd much rather have them in my Cult than Cadians; their scarves and robes can be easily made to look "culty".

iv got a load of cadians, 1 1/2 platoon of tallarns, and a platoon of vostroyans. i also think i have a squad of steel legoin somewhere

Even though I play cadians, I (tried to) vote steel legion, cause they kick ass. The gas masks, the chimeras, they even have their own sentinel variant! It's a shame GW doesn't sell the squad box anymore...

Personally, I like the Cadians best. They fit the image I have of Gaurd in my head almost to a tee and they are very nice models as well. Not to mention all plastic and easy as hell to convert

Awww...you forgot the Death Korps. I like their fight-or-you-die ways. And their amazing tanks like the Gorgon and the Macarius. Plus they remind me of the WWI German troopers.

You gotta go for the pretorians, guard have been on my todo list for about 15 years now, the main reason i havent done them is that the models are so blody hard to find. Ive got a few aquads now waiting but i want to field a whole army.

I like the Mordians they just look so regimented and proper. If GW made a plastic box I would deffinently start guard.

the praetorian models look so dated nowadays, although if GW did a re-release im sure they would sell like hotcakes. a uniformed army of them would at least be original.

Tallarn cause they remind me of Haradrim sort of got a Lawerence of Arabia feel as well
