Is the Elder avatar immune to instant death?

so force weapons just kill them no matter what its not instant death but it is ?
it basically sucks out their soul and casts it into the warp rendering them dead, rather than being turned into red mist by a battlecannon shell.

theres the difference.
do they have rending ?

they have the gausse special rule, which is basicly rending from a distance
(instant wound on a 6, glancing on a 6)

btw, do force weps work on C'tan? I cant see their soul being warpified...
my grey knight grand master has claimed 3 avatars so far with his force weapon 1 nightbringer 2 greater deamons and a deamon prince and never died ..... im starting to wonder if he ever will.
pew pew pathfinder fire.. boom head shot ...
He can not be instant killed, because no monstrous creature may be instant killed. Says so in rulebook. Besides, he is Toughness 6, and the highest possible strength value is 10 right? So wouldn't it be impossible to get strength 12 in the first place?
...where, exactly, does it say that Monstrous Creatures are immune to Instant Death?

It doesn't, otherwise Daemon Princes wouldn't need the Eternal Warrior rule.

Meanwhile, if you had read the last page or so, you'd know that just because there are no S12 weapons doesn't make the Wraithlord to Instant Death.
The Blissgiver causes Instant Death on a successful wound, for example.

PS Jakkie, unless it speciffically says otherwise, Force Weapon works on everyone. You can't apply logic in place of the rules.
Good show Galahad. We had this exact discussion this past weekend as one of my Pheonix Lords was killed outright with a Force Weapon. I saw the difference between Instant Death and being killed outright as being rather obvious so I had to reluctantly remove the ol' fellow.
Good to see I'm not the only one who sees it so clearly, even when the rule works against you. Just wait though. Latest rumor I saw had Force weapons officially going over to Instant Death in 5th ed.
Fabius Bile may instant kill the Avatar as well, just saying ^^

Lemartes
remember he has invulnerable save and plus you cant inta kill him in shooting if hes t6 because theres no guns in the game that are s12
also hes imune to melta and las connons so...

I see that as i challenge and it can only be met by one phrase. Challenge accepted
also hes imune to melta and las connons so...
The Avatar is immune to melta yes, but it doesn't say anywhere that he is immune to Las cannons.
what about heavy bolter fire, like as in 12 heavy bolters?
wot about it?, heavy bolter fire would eventually bring him down, but nothing to do with insta death. Also no the avatar is not immune to lascannons, metlas and flamers only ladies and gents.

Lastly i'd like to bow my head to two people who actually read the instant death rule and see a differnce between instant death and slay out right.

peace out all
