Imperial Dragon and martin4696 are correct in that your first weapon choice for your CSMs can only be an assault weapon like a melta, plasma or flamer.

One thing to consider with your DPs is that they are monstrous creatures that can be targeted as a separate unit and are much easier to kill. IMO, Lash is better served on a sorcerer as they join up one of your squads and not be singled out. If you do want to keep your DPs then I'd take wings for them as mobility around the field is essential.

I am not a fan of possessed are they are way too unreliable. IMO, another termie squad would be a better elite choice or even a berserker squad would be a better assault-oriented choice. If you do insist on taking Possessed then it would serve them well to take a MoK plus they will need Rhinos to transport them quickly across the field.

Also, taking extra armor and daemonic possession for your rhino is redundant since daemonic possession already does what extra armor does. Only extra armor is needed to guarantee movement for your rhino.

Beyond the fact Possessed have no range attacks to speak of nor any type of good mobility (unless you get fleet but that's 1 in 6 shot), their abilities are an unreliable for tournament play. You have no way of predicting what ability you will get (and scouting is a waste). Mind you in a friendly game I don't see a problem with fielding Possessed just not tournie worthy. IMO, it's essential to know the strengths that one can rely on during your game and many serious tournament players won't field unreliable units like Possessed, Dreadnoughts or Lords w/ DW because of it.

I disagree about the Possessed, I think they are very capable in a tournament format. If the user has learned how to use them. Yes they have no ranged abilities but they aren't built for that, they are cc monsters and only get better with icons and a Rhino to move them. I do agree that there scout ability is pointless because they should be in a Rhino to start with. They are unit that shines when running with other troops of similar style, ie Zerkers.

I'm not saying that there the best thing in the army but they are very underrated. You either love them or you hate them.

I mean Chaos is primarily a cc army after all so a all cc unit shouldn't be surprising.

As for the army list the only thing I don't like is the 2 DP's, I'd lose one to make some room for Zerkers or a Oblit squad.

Hehe, tell that to my Sons :). Although I will admit that I have some cc ability to back them up.

As for the OP, if you are playing in a tournament with that list it is a bit more acceptable to take double Lash but even then you will get smacked. Friendly games are NOT the place for 2 Lash casters at all. Lash is a wicked and admittedly overpowered ability and taking two is just beardy imho. The rest of the list looks fine aside from the points noted above about the heavy weapons. I will however take this opportunity to say that the Defiler is not, and never will be, worth its points. Any other HS choice will be better than that piece of crap. Low armour and the sheer size of the model means it WILL get killed insanely fast.

Think of the old days Warpath!

Has anyone used a defiler with success?

I find two DPs very beardy. These guys are supposed to be the Ultimate killing machine blessed by the gods. Surely one per army means your guys will know who there main leader is?
Now a DP backed up by a Chaos Lord with JP, that is a different kettle of fish!
Praise the dark gods, gone are the days of the DP with Beserker Glaive with his little chum wielding an Axe of Khorne. (Warpath will probably weep at the memory)

Why not just field more zerkers if you want stronger CC? Possessed are more expensive plus you need to buy MoK to make them comparable to Zerkers in assault (in terms of number of attacks). Plus if you shove them in a rhino then fleet becomes another nearly worthless demonkin ability...so now that's 1 in 3 chance per game that you get an ability you are not going to use.

As for Defiler, I agree they become instant target on the field but drawing fire isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you field enough big target (i.e. DPs, tanks, rhinos filled with troops or more Defilers) then you opponent's attention becomes divided making them less effective or they focus on one target allowing your other nasty units to advance or fire into you. I remember one game in particular where my Defiler singlehandedly folded an IG flank before finally being taken down (killing aprox. 3x his VP). In part because I had a few other juicy targets that forced my opponent to divide his attention....when a predator's lascannons is pounding at one's tanks while a DP w/Wings is advancing along with a Defiler it's hard to focus all fire on just the Defiler. The biggest mistake one can make with a Defiler is to keep them stationary and at range just firing their Battle cannon. They need to advance quickly and get in the thick of things almost immediately.

What kind of crack are you on? And why aren't you sharing it?

Seriously man the Defiler is a beast. Yes they tweaked to be more cc but as I said thats were the heart of Chaos is. As a cc vehicle it nothing else out there comes close, not even a Death Co. Dreadnought can inflict the same amount of damage. Now as a ranged vehicle it isn't all that, but it's battle cannon can still be very effective. As for drawing fire it doesn't matter if they are in cc which is were they should be after all.

I run two Defilers, one with 1 extra ccw and the other with 2 and they run around the table carving a path of destruction. In fact neither of them has yet to fall in a game.

Might want to check the price or model count of this unit. Either you meant to have only three Terminators, or you're under paying by 60 points, which puts you over the 1500 point mark.
