this came up the other night in a game we were playing.

scenario went as such.

I moved my ork trukk 12" being a fast vehicle and was then going to assault out of the trukk because fast vehicles can act as if they only moved at combat speed 6" and this is how we have always played it in previous editions. now my friend pointed out that in the 7th ed rule book it says that you can only disembark from a vehicle if it moves no more than 6" not actual wording but close enough. reading in the other sections about kinds and types of vehicles under fast we could find nothing to counter the rule of 6" to disembark. I have even used this tactic at my local GW store and nothing has even been said about it.

have we missed something or have we been playing it wrong all along. if anyone can help out would be much appreciated and a reference would be handy if I was doing it right moving the 12" then assaulting out.

cheers in advance.

No FAQ for the BRB on the black library site yet. I'm away at work so haven't got my book as the only section i didn't check was the USR under assault vehicles. Just thought of it when i read your post about checking the FAQ @Iraqiel. will need to check that when i get home.

@ntaw yeah I got a bag of cement lying around i'll put some in my water and harden up LOL.
@Fallen in 6th ed fast vehicles could move 12 and were considered to have only moved at combat speed so they could disembark after that move and then assault. Where as in 7th they just get the extra distance when moving flat out.

Dude, you've been cheating for a long time. 6th ed. BRB, under Disembarking pg. 79:

A unit that begins its Movement Phase embarked on a vehicle may disembark either before or after the vehicle has moved so long as the vehicle has not moved more than 6".
Nothing about Cruising Speed, and if we mosey over to Fast Vehicles (6th ed. BRB, pg.83) we find that the Cruising Speed stipulation has only to do with firing weapons, not disembarking.

It's actually the same from 6th to 7th. Sorry man.

There's tons of stuff I have had to check out as things move from edition to edition, I got back into the hobby with JUST enough time left in 5th edition to collect a Razorback-oriented BA army only to have everything I had spent my money on basically invalidated. Since then I have had the current BRB within arms reach at all times
