The following is my account of the examination of the remains and wargear of subject X-3126-sigma-163617. Specifically the examination of the modified gauntlet apparatus for which this traitorous Chapter is named after (see cross ref: Dark Hands Chapter file [deleted, clearance level veridian], delared Excommunicatus Tratoris 987.M38. See also Dark Talons Chapter file [deleted, clearance level veridian], signed by my hand this day, 342.M41, Viktor Bostrova, Inquisitor, Ordo Xenos. [note: dates can be adjusted to fit as needed ~E]

Upon initial examination, the apparatus appears to look like a Close Combat Weapon, similar to the STC number [Deleted] Description: Gauntlet, Enhanced, Bladed, Powered, aka "Lightning Claw", with a number of minor modifications such as spikes and razor protusions.

Upon removal from the corpse, it appears the gauntlet had at least partially fused with the hand of the bearer. Also, several smaller deviations from the STC were shown.

After consulting with the Magus Mechaniucus et Biologica and a Genetor Adept, I’ve made the following conclusions:

The powered blades of the "Dark Talon" are grooved and these grooves feed to tubes which pass through a membrane and to further tubing which apparently feeds directly to the circulatory system of the bearer. I have been informed that this would likely kill any typical human, but if perhaps the bearer was of Adeptus Astartes stock, and if somehow there was some alteration of the Omophagea Gland the bearer could effectively glean the strengths and memories as well as any survival or tactical senses from the victim via Germ Cell Extraction . Although my attempts to find a surviving witness to the use of this heretical item have so far proven futile and the exact operation and purpose of the "Dark Talon" are at this moment Mechanicus speculation both the Magus and Genetor are agreed that it is for use in extraction of Germ Cells.

Certain technologies within the "Dark Talon" are of unidentifiable origin, and are believed to be of possible Xenos make. Despite the protests of the Magus Mechanicus, who wanted to examine the "Dark Talon" further, the subject and his equipment were removed for destruction by immolation immediately upon completion of the initial examination to minimise any possible contamination. I witnessed the destruction personally and affixed my seal upon the incineration order. Rights of purification were observed post examination.

Cool piece of background here, gives enough info to get people interested but not too much to give away all the mystery.


The idea we also came up with during a chat is a special rule for champions. The point cost is based upon the cost of the lightning claw for the lord and chosen.


The idea here is to give the legion just that little bit of extra flavor while its point cost puts in on the same level as a powerfist (on par with the LC used by lords and chosen). And with some imagination you can even use it as a normal power weapon as a vembrace would be less cumbersome than a bulky lightning claw.


DARK TALON
- you need your opponent's permission to use this optional rule
- power armoured champions now have access to a single lightning claw for +25 points
- only for champions from the following unit - csm, noise marines, berserkers, plague marines, bikers, havocs (and obviously termies and chosen, but they already have it :wink
- not for thousand sons as the sorceror has no access to PF

Perhaps you should make some kind of Daemon weapon(dark talon DW) for Chaos lords of The Dark Talons?

If the Dark talons are to have an unique daemon weapon, it should only be available to daemon princes, and only come as a single set of talons, no right and left hand talons.. What I envision is a monstrous creature sized dark talon, something that mutated along with the marine.

I had an aspiring champion power fist...Filed down the fingers...added spikes from the sorcerer lords head and add horns and cables.
