TBH, and i know that this defeats the purpose of your list, i would drop the Honor Guard and Sanguinary Guard for more RAS.

by doing so, you could take for Sang. Priests and take 4 RAS with PF and flamers or meltas.

with points left you could actually increase the size of your Vanguard Vets.

but like i said earlier, goes against the theme of the list to a certain point. it's just that with an all jump pack army you're going to need numbers to survive all sort of firepower most lists at this level can put out.

I understand the risk of a low body count like this. And the whole reason I wanted to play was for the sanguinary guard. Im not going to play in many tournaments so im not worried about winning all the time. Do you think the list would preform well at all? Im willing to drop the honor guard for something else seeing as I have not bought them yet. The only things im willing to change are 1 Priest the honor guard or even dante if the change would be good enough.

potentially. anymore in my area at least, 'fun' games are played with competitive lists, and off the top, i'd feel comfortable fighting this army with anything i field. i could do well, but any army with a pie plates (not just IG) or large amts. of CC specialists (not just Orks, Seer Councils, Berzerkers) could give you trouble.

It's not a bad little army, though I do casually stress the 'little'.

I would suggest you run dual melta on the assault squads though, your FC troops can do what flamers do. Popping tanks is going to be this armies issue and you can always charge what pops out :)

I'd give the Librarian The Sanguine Sword instead of Shield, S10 attacks may matter if he's the only one who survives his alpha strike. 5++ is meh unless you run him in the middle of lots of stuff IMO.

Vanguards might be better served with storm shields for that 3++ I mean realistically they're not that killy so they make good tar-pits to allow the rest of your army to get in on the action. A fist is nice too.

Been looking at this kind of list over the last few days and you just have to accept SG cost a BOMB. Dropping the honour guard will let you split 1 of your assault squads in two and kitting them out with razorback each. You'd get a moving wall of cover. From my figures you'd probably have another 70 pts left over to play with.

With the lack of scatter from dante you can pretty much get the infernus pistols from an attached SG squad to do the same anti tank as i presume you'd planned with the honour guard.

What ever you decide i'd be interested to know what its like to play.

I'm going to tag my Dante wing onto the end of this.

Comes in at 1500 on the dot so i figure i can get away with less troops especially them being the flying terminator kind.

Against hordes i'd probably change both Ball to Flamestorm + flamer versions. Also drop the melta bombs on the priests and give them hand flamers.

VERY elite force but between squeezing the small squads in behind cover as i move them around and having sheild up they should make combat intact. Dante and the double pistol squad dropping in and nuking vindys and other anti TEQ vehicles.

I've also looked at squeezing 6 squads of SG into a 1500 list for a super fluffy Dantewing. If i was to do the same for 2k i would probably include some DC as those sucumming to the rage on the eve of battle.

Ok so what is I dropped on Vanguard Veteran Squad and pimped out the other with 4x Storm sheilds 1x Power Fist and 2x Power Weapons. That would also leave 120 points open. With that I could upgrade the assault squads with 2x melta and 1x power fist a piece. I could then add a power fist to the other sang guard unit and another infernus pistol a piece. I could then add another melta to the honor guard making it have 4. I then have 45 points left over to fiddle around with. So what do you think? would dropping down to one super vanguard squad to pimp my army be worth it?

I really like the list. I'm working on a pure JP list myself. One list with Dante and one without. I think Honor Guard are awesome, I'm glad to see them in your list. I think 4 melta's is too many. At least 2 and ideally 3 is the impression I've been getting.

Other than that I think it's great, I don't think you are too low on models. If you find you are you could always make room for another 10 AS.

This is what I would do if you don't like the VV and want more bodies:
You could drop a Sanguinary Priest, the 4th melta, 1 Infernus off each Sang guard and the VV and put in another jump pack squad of Honor Guard with 3 melta's and the 10 AS w/2 meltas and fist. This would give you 10 more bodies and another bubble that can't get picked out. Its something to possibly play with at least :p

From what I've heard a pimped VV squad is the only way they'll be very effective. The shield is important. People have also been telling me that they are pretty much an auto-include in pure JP lists as they can assult when they drop.

Though in this build (and keep them if you like the models, I'm just saying) what do your SG offer that dual melta, infernus/power fist assault squads don't?

It is because I love the models. They are the reason I wanted to play blood angels. I know they are expensive but I woudnt trade them for anything. Infact I bought another box of the today :D
