Hi there guys,

This is my first post on here so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

I am looking for some suggestions for a competitive 2000 points Orks list, I've been pondering over them for a while and decided finally when I got the idea of doing an Armageddon diorama along with my 9k Blood Angels army. Going to add some Steel Legion to it as well but that's a long way off.

I play in a group that covers a lot of armies Daemons, Imperial Fists, Chaos Marines, Grey Knights, Eldar, Tau, Space Wolves and probably a few I've missed so I am looking for quite a versatile 2k list to start me off.

Already have 3 Koptas, 3 Warbikes a Warboss (not in Mega Armour), about 60 Shoota Boyz, 5 Tankbustas with Bomb Squigs and a Looted out Rhino (courtesy of the Dark Angels). Was going to pick up a couple of boxes of Lootas this week and a Battlewagon a few weeks later. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Playing orks is kind of an uphill battle in a competitive scene. I can offer a few notes however.

Lootas are your best friend, put them behind an aegis defense line, go to ground for a 2+ cover save, you don't care that you have to snap shoot. They are also great AA.

Bikes are good, they can get to gunlines fast enough, but this is a tricky road because things like Tau will probably kill you before you get tehre because you will have few models in relation to Green tide.

Green tide is pretty good as well, you would need about 180 boys for this to work semi-well.

Once again, lootas are probably the best thing in the book. At 2000 points you more or less have to have a ton.

Thanks for that, having read through the current Codex and eagerly anticipating the next, I had come to the same conclusion regarding Lootas. They seem to be the best AA option available and with S7 can glance most vehicles to death if you throw enough dakka at them.

Any input from anyone regarding the Ork flyers currently available would also be good, I know we can probably expect more later in the year but I really want to get this army up, running and well played by then.

Also is it worth strapping a Boomgun to a Looted Wagon? Looks like an expensive upgrade by Ork standards! Thanks again for the input guys.

an ork army I run at 2000 points is the green tide
6 units of 30 boyz each with a nob wielding a Klaw and 3 big shootas in each unit,
2 units of 10 lootas,
1 unit of 10 tankbustas with 3 bomb squigs
2 shock attack guns

very few armies can deal with the amount of shots that it puts out and the amount of wounds it can absorb. I have gone 4 and zip with this list. biggest trouble I had was against a blood angles army packing 2 vindicators, a whirlwind, heaps of template weapons and a 20 man death company (they new what I was bringing ).

anyhow just some food for thought
