Hi all,

So I am a complete beginner to the gaming world! I'm going to be honest and say that this is something my boyfriend loves and talking to him has made me want to learn more. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can start as a complete beginner to learn the basics please?

Hello and welcome to Heresy Online.

We have many areas on here that are stickied with advice for beginners. So you can check those out. Honestly if you have a gaming store near you I would go there and see if anyone would be willing to show you the basics of the game. Usually there are employees or people there that would be willing to show you the basics. You are more than welcome to ask questions on here we have many members that would be help you with all aspects of the game from picking an army, building and painting your army, making an army list and tactics for your army as well as dealing with your enemy units.

If anyone is rude or disrespectful to you on here please contact a moderator so we can deal with them. We work hard to make this place a fun place for new people to enjoy this hobby so I hope you will have fun and enjoy this hobby as well.

Afternoon, thanks so much for making me welcome! I shall have a look through the stickied advice sections first and get some basic knowledge before I start asking questions. Thank you also for the idea about going to a gaming shop, I think I shall go and have a look/chat this weekend. Nordicus I think he may already be on here... I will tell him I'm interested in learning, but I'd like to learn a bit myself before so he doesn't think I'm just humouring an interest of his

Welcome to the Boards The lads pretty much have it covered but if you need help with anything were always happy to help.

The one thing they have not covered is that whether or not you play Warhammer or any other game if you really want to make the leap into something do it because you like the models or background of a particular army or faction and not because others are telling you that this is the best one to play in a tournament. That can come later. Find models and factions that you love and want to dedicate the time paint and model to reflect what you want them to look like. We refer to it as a hobby in general but it is YOUR hobby it should reflect YOUR personality.
