...Ok I can't be bothered going through your points just to find out what point level you are playing, ot even what exorbident amount you are paying for the trukks or wagons. Instead I will play a game of "you are going to hate me and not take my advice"

1 too many lootaz, they are optimal in groups of 8-11 no more no less, there is a reason... mostly centered around wasted shots.

Burnas are great, they go in the wagon, no exceptions.

drop everything from the mek except the KFF, If he hits combat h will die before he uses any of the other crap he has on him.

2 warbuggies are pointless. they will die before the end of turn 1 unless you hide them, and then they will not get a decent shot off.... with wartrakks they are expensive for what they are

Take that ram off the wagon and put on a deff rolla, it is the only reliable thing we have for AV14 except PK.

Trukk set up is ok, but they are AV 10. Imagine 12 boyz covered in paper. That is essentially what you have in a trukk. As you know troops are important, in an ork list it is pretty much what we do best. 24 boyz + 5 meganobz as troops choices are not going to cut it. They will die and run, you will cry and your opponent will laugh. They are not marines (or CSM) or any form of MEQ for that matter, they have a 6+ save. and they will run if you kill 5 of them. So imagine this scenario. 1 squad of marines shoots the trukk with bolters. it dies, another squad shoots the orks 5 die. they run. and all it took was 2 squads of marines. It gets worse if I start talking IG or nids.

Looted wagons are unreliable, but I guess passable (not so much for tourney though)

Tell you what though, If you are going for a soft score list, this may do ok (except the 20 lootaz, everyone hates those).

I hate to be so harsh but you said tournament and my head goes hyper competitive.

I have to repeat what Tossy said about your boyz, you need more @ 2000 you should probably fill your 6 troop selections with boyz in trucks, but you need at least 4. Your opponent will shoot your boyz to hell in Turn 1 and then sit on their objective for the rest of the game FTW.

The mega nobz should go in a battle wagon or don’t bother bringing them at all. The trukk will get blown up and your expensive Nobz will spend the rest of the game grunting at your opponent because they’ll never get close enough to actually attack them.

And again what Tossy said about the deff rola is right on.

Really lacking in Boyz.
Burna Boyz can be devastating when using their templates, but it is extremely hard to justify using up a precious Battlewagon for a non-scoring unit.
I run 3 Battlewagons. I have tried 2 units of Boyz and 1 Burnas. Ive tried 2 units of Boyz and 1 Lootas in a Battlewagon. In the end, nothing can beat having 3 units of Boyz in Battlewagons.
The 4th Battlewagon is always going to have Meganobz in it, and is always going to have Ghazzy in it.
I dont run any (Mega)Nobz or Warbosses, and therefore never use a 4th Battlewagon, but thats probably because i only play 1500-1750 points.
At 2000+, Ghazzy is well worth it, with a small retinue of Meganobz in Battlewagon.

Running more boyz is something I might put in my list but I was trying to give him a more competitive list, including more troop choices without totally replacing his original list. But, yeah, another mob of boyz in place of the burnas would be a good move.

how does "too many" lootaz give you wasted shots?
Overkill.
It makes more sense to run 3 units of 10 rather than 2 units of 15.
They can split their fire between 3 targets rather than 2.
Several times i have scored 10+ penetrating hits on a Rhino, and regretted splitting up the squad.

If your pointing your lootaz at rhinos, you're doing it wrong (unless its first turn and there are ONLY rhinos on the table). In nearly all cases, its better to deal with any artillery and anything that needs to be wasted by mass wounding (Termies, troop choices, etc). Use your battlewagons to ram rhinos and if you blow em up, then disembark your boyz to assault. Additionally, its fairly easy to lose a couple of lootas to random bolter fire from drop pods/rhinos/etc. Having a couple to take wounds and keep you fearless is nearly worth it on its own.

The list itself is more of a friendly list vs. a purely comp. list. For a truly comp. list, you need to look at a battlewagon type list sprinkled with nob bikers (insert groan here).

Contrary to popular belief, boyz are not the way to go anymore. A lot of the top tier armies have more than enough ways to deal with boyz and once you hit assault with them, you're probably going to be whittled down in numbers. Additionally, boyz can't really stand up in combat anymore to some of the newer armies troop choices. Looking at grey hunters/wolf guard /w standard and assault marines with FNP bubbles. They will most likely out-manuever you if your on foot or pop your truck if your driving - denying you FC and crippling you with bolter fire. IG have enough templates to toss a couple your way as well. Boyz still have their use, I prefer shoota boyz in battlewagons. Do a couple of drive bys/deff rollas and then use them to clean up in assault once the squad is manageable.

I'm not really a fan of burna boyz. They're pretty decent but I find you can spend better points elsewhere.

For the most part, you can ignore everything in the fast attack slot as well as the heavy slot baring battlewagons.

Warboss's are fine for a cheap CC character, I would consider a bike with him and some nob bikers as T6 really helps him out but ultimately, all it takes is 1 str 10 pf and all your left with is a 5+.

At the 2000 point range, you can afford to add a bit more of a punch to your HQ choices, lately I've been using Ghaz. Compared to some of hte other SC we're seeing, he's a bargain at his current cost. He makes a great assassination character for something you have no other way of dealing with. 13 PK attacks protected by T5 and 2+ invuln save makes short work of most characters/MC which will chew threw your nobz. My ghaz almost never makes it through the game but he soaks up so much damage and meats out pure fury.

Lastly, Nob bikers are still a super comp. choice. Nothing beats 2 wounds, T5, FNP and wound allocation coupled with quick moving, most likely scoring, multi-assaulting. Really, the only things you need to watch out for are JotWW (not too common anymore) and an abundance of str 8 weaponry in combat (you should have your 3+ cover save from TB most of the time out of combat).

If you look at a lot of the top Ork lists from this year, you'll see a couple of battlewagons stuffed with boyz, backed up with lootas and nob bikers. Simple and effective. Your goal is to soften everything up with lootas, deff rollas and shoota boyz and look for multi-assaults with the nob bikers.

My current 2000 point list looks like this (actually taking it to BIGCON this weekend)

Ghaz
Big Mek /w KFF, Burna

7 Nob bikers -
Painboy
PK
PK & Bosspole
PK & ammo runt
big choppa & Waaagh Banner
Ammo Runt
Vanilla

14 Lootas (I'm considering dropping these and trying to fit in another wagon even if its naked).

5 Meganobz /w battlewagon - deffrolla (not a super comp. choice but I have some awesome conversion that I can't help to use. I usually point these at troop choices that need to die). Ghaz and Big Mek join here - no grot rigger as the big mek has tools.

20 shoota boyz /w 2 big shootas, nob /w pk, bp

20 shoota boyz /w 2 big shootas, nob /w pk, bp

2 battlewagons /w deffrollas, grot riggers

As you can see, not a lot of boyz. I basically use them to soften up targets or mass wound termies, stuff to that effect. Make the battlewagons scoring. Plus, their protected by 14 AV and a 4+ cover save for the most part in addition to being fairly low on target priority. The battlewagons scream towards the enemies lines following the TB nob bikers.

Pro's of this list - lots of str 10/9 hits from rams/deff rolls/PKs, ability to multi-assault units and win, speed, high toughness/armour, nearly entirely protected by cover saves.

Con's of this list - low model count, only 3 scoring units, minimal ranged support.

Hope this helps.

sorry to interfer. Lootas should be 9 or 12. I say so, as we have BS2 so 1 in 3 shots hits. So what one should do is put multiples of 3 in his units. IMO 12 is a great number to open a lot of vehicles. (Always statistically) 4 shots will hit, then there is a great chance that 1-2 of them penetrates (rhino like), so 2/3 you 'll break the vehicle.

Crimzzen, your army is powerful up close, but IMO it would be much better if you:
a) had a few grots for holding objectives
b) got rid of the nob bikers, sure they may be powerful but for 451pts there not worth it
c) changed the boyz to slugga boyz
recently i've been using a 4 battle wagon army list and i've had great success with it (havent yet lost with it and won all but 1 which was drawn because i forgot my tactics.):
HQ
Gazghkull - 225
Big mek (KFF) - 85

Elites
8 Burna Boyz - 120
7 Lootas - 105
7 Lootas - 105

Troops
20 Slugga Boyz (nob with PK and BP) - 160
20 Slugga Boyz (nob with PK and BP) - 160
11 Shoota Boyz (nob with PK and BP mounted in a Trukk) - 141
11 Grots (runtheard) - 43
8 Meganobz (mounted in BW described below) - 320
BW (Deff Rolla, GR, Armour Plates, 2 BS) - 135

Heavy Support
2 BW (Deff Rolla, GR, Armour Plates, 2 BS) - 135 * 2 = 270
BW (Deff Rola, AP, 2BS) - 130

Total = 1999

i sometimes replace 1 of the shoota boyz for reinforced ram for the trukk

the shoota boyz are there to gaurd the rear of your battle wagons from deep strikers and outflanking units
Ghaz goes with the meganobz for an ultimate killy squad
big mek goes with the burnas in 1 of the battle wagons and protects the BWs
Boyz go forward in BWs to kill stuff in CC
grots hide but hold your objective
lootas stick at the back and kill transports and light armourd tanks (especially ones that poes a threat eg vendetta gunship)
