By Commando, I assume you mean Tier 3 operators? That's most likely the equivalent of Imperial Guard, regiments if I'm honest.

Royal Marines, Rangers, Paratroopers, and the like are not conventional, and have specialist training and generally tougher fitness regimes etc to cover those responsibilities they have.

However, they are still fielded in Platoon sized, company, and even Regiment sized maneuvres.

If you mean SEALs, SAS, then Storm Troopers, probably. Access to rare equipment, and additional training, they're the closest equivalent.

Veterans in 40K don't have any real equivalent in modern world. No commander would be daft enough in a regiment to have 10 of his best men all placed together in one squad sized formation.

Ok the clear things up, I meant strictly HUMAN. I'm mainly posting this thread mainly to help with my new novel that i hvae planned in my head. I got the idea for commandos from watching my little bro have a go at the Battle Field Bad Company 2 Campaign. The first level are American commandos going through a japanese held Island. I wanted the main characters to be the good old rough and tough elites with bad ass scouting skills through in.

'Human' 'commandos' can range from marine scouts, to the assassin temples (evisor excluded).

Now the commando pictured by Turkeyspit with Arnold in it, that would be a Catachan Jungle Fighter. That is possible the closest to a 'commando.'

You mean Rambo.

By the word commando you mean the best troops then surely marines of any kind would be commandoes.

er..

Methinks a remake is required!
You could never remake this film, ever... No one else could pull off so many one liners and have an incredibly camp bad guy (listen to him say 'See you soon John') that works... as much as everyone of his other films work :)

For the Commandos, I'd go with like kasrkins or IG stormtroopers.

Tanith? They're classed as light infantry and engage in infiltration operations frequently. But stormtroopers would be more likely.

There's several that are stealth specialist, are you looking for your Arnolds and Rambos like in Commandos, Predator, and Rambo Series? Or you looking for your SEALS, SAS, Rangers...etc?

For the first type for Humans you have Catchans, just think of a planet filled with Mr. Universe Arnold. Also women are just Arnold with boobs..

For the second type Tanith First and Only fits that deal, I can't remember any others off top my head. However Stealth is an after thought for most. You got men, and a bunch of men. Why waste them sneaking around when they could be thrown at the enemy? Obviously not all are thrown into the grinder that way, but enough to get the point.

Stephen_Newman he meant Marbo (C:IG special character) who GW ripped off Rambo.

As for commandos amongst humans are you looking for a specialized unit to take on the baddies, because IG veterans are basically that, they were more so in the rules in the last edition of the Codex.

Guardsman Marbo from the 5th Edition Imperial Guard Codex.

For serious reals.

He's more skilled than, can take more damage than, is faster in combat than a space marine. He can sneak up right next to any enemy and tear them to shreds with his explosives, his super weaponry, or his bare f'n hands.

He can only operate solo.
