So I am running a few units of marines (champions with PF and some special weapons guys in each) in rhinos. I have some extra points and was thinking of adding combi-weapons to the unit. I was wondering would it be better to put the combi-weapon on the rhino or on the champ. I know that if you put it on the rhino it has a chance of getting destroyed but would it still be worth the risk?

No because Rhinos are easily stunned or shaken which will stop the combi-weapon from being used (not to mention it isn't that hard to blow a Rhino sky high). Put the combi on the Champ.

since you're talking about champions I'll assume you mean the chaos variety.

in general I've found for rhinos that you either want havoc launchers or no weapon at all. If you're going for a combi-weapon, it's much better off on the champion.
And if you DO put a Havoc Launcher on it, Possessed is a good follow-up, if points allow.

You want Rhinos, in general, to be the most cost effective vehicle in your army. Hence, you don't want to load it up with too many upgrades. Likewise, you don't want it to stand out too much, because hey, it may survive until turn 2 :p

Space Marine Rhinos cost 35 points, and its best they stay that way. Its better to use those same points elsewhere, like you said on a Champion, or an icon/locator beacon, etc.
