I don't want to do red or marron because I already play Space Marines and there red/marron

I really like Earth/Natural Colors. Browns, Greens, Tans, and Earthy reds like Terracota(sp) are all great colors. Then to make them pop you can add stripes or details in skull white. Also, another great color scheme I love is grey armor plates and black fatigues.

Have you ever seen the blue Tallarn Desert Raiders? There may be a picture of them on the GW IG website, I'm not sure... But, they are dressed in blues mostly and look as if engaged in a nocturnal mission. I've always loved that look... and I imagine it would look really sweet on Tau.

I personally like the urban style camo for Tau. I have an army of Ke'lshan Tau (though modified with camo stripes and the like) as they are simple to paint yet look effectively cool

I like the idea of regal blue with the cloth or secondary colour as bleached bone. You could use white depending on your taste. Regal or Enchanted blue is an easy colour to highlight and make look good to and it goes over black really easily to.

I say a dark gray(With shades of lighter gray) with sky blue colorings.

But I'm just pulling this from my head as I prefer dark colors.

As I mentioned above, thats quite similar to the Ke'lshan colour scheme (except probobly darker). The blue clourings break up the amount of gray, and makes effeective looking urban camo

My Tau's scheme is Catachan Green for the cloth, Camo Green for the armor.

I think it looks good, but, what do I know, right?

Anyway, my Kroot and my Vespid are grey (Fortress drybrushed on Codex), with armor (and cloth where apropriate) the same colors as the tau, to unify the scheme.

Leaders are picked out by having panels on thier armors and such done in Bleached bone, to add some contrast.

I was thinking about doing an orange and black combo

Kroot could be a yellow and tan combo

while the vespids are...?

Keep in mind this is a desert area

A light tan and light grayish green for the Tau. And the Kroot can be brown and tan.

And I don't know much about the vespids, so can't comment on them.

(I'm just trying to think of colors that look good together and can make the army look good as a whole even if different units are using different colors.)

The Vespid are mostly "naked" with only a vest of armor on (except the strain leader, who also has the helmet-thingy on) so I would go with whatever color you use for your Fire Warriors' armor for the Vespid's armor, as well.

That said, the chitinous bodies of the Vespid should be a somewhat contrasting color, or a natural/earth-tone kind of color.

I use a light grey, but a deep brown could be nice, too, maybe Bestial Brown drybrushed over Scorched, maybe.

My way of thinking has always been to have enough of the same colors on the models to tie the army together, but you need to keep the various unit types (kroot, Vespid, etc) different enough to stand out as different life-forms.

I like the vespids and kroot painted in the codex, except you just change the "armour" (apparently, kroot have it) to suit your sept's colours

but you can paint them any colours you want, I don't think there are any particular "standards", anything would look cool

The Kroot can have little shoulder-pads' worth of armor if you add it to the models. otherwise, they have leather/cloth/whatever wrappings on thier bodies, kind of like belts and such...

but, yeah.

It's all about personal preference.

I was arigonaly thinking grey and blue but now I'm thinking more along the lines of red and brown kind of like the Geonocions from Star Wars

What do you think?
