This came up at my local GW today and we where wondering what was the Worst "Bending of the rules" anyone has ever seen.
For me it was 1 guy who rolled 3 4's for his tervigon spawning 12. However he said "Since i rolled a Triple i can swpan them again next turn". Needless to say it didn't stick and we said that yes you didn't roll a dobble......you rolled 3. Try to pull this agian and next time you roll a triple your tervigon blows up.
I'm sure it's not the worst out there but feel free to share any really stupid moments when people just can't read a book or chose to ignore it.

Dice rolling ... only a couple of people try carnie tricks on dice rolls. one guy hit or missed just below average when people were watching. Dice gods must not like him, but when nobody was watching, they loved him cause he hit more then anyone could, literally. He had something like 12 guys firing single shots, and yet ended up wounding 14?!? WTF I said, "I rolled well" says he. Not that fucking good guy, you wounded more than you shot, explain that one brainiac. I was a little bitter.

One of my favorites was when my local GW store (RIP) was running a team campaign. One team was made up of the manager and a red shirt, they were undefeated. I wanted to scout them out and see why they were so unstoppable so I sat in on one of their games for a bit. It was Necrons and Dark Eldar vs Eldar (team GW).

At one point the Necron Lord attempted to fire his 12" range weapon at the Avatar but was found to be just out of range. The game progressed and the following Eldar turn the Avatar assaulted said Necron Lord. Halfway through the Assault phase the Necron player said "Hey, wait a minute....?!"

My biggest peeve is when people rotate there models such that somehow they are in range of shotting my units but when I counter shoot I'm just out of range. Not to mention rule book nazi's. The type who forget about a rule when they break a rule against you but when you try to do it back they pull out the rule book and repeatedly try to shove it down your throat.

LOL i do that with my Nids. Shoot my Warriors and then run my rippers in frount of them to get cover saves and then next turn move them back otu the way and shoot angain and run back. It's the best use for rippers there is.

i got rules raped today. this daemon player fired his fateweaver's same breath of chaos attack twice each shooting phase, claiming that it was a special rule because he could fire two per turn. in my later game, i forgot to disembark kharn the betrayer and his berzerkers from their rhino...twice.

For me it was at a campaign weekend in warhammer world.

My troops were at ground level and the enemy were in a high building (about 18")

When I fired the range was measured in a straight line, firer to target so I was just out of range.

When he fired the range was measured from the base of the tower, so he was in range. Apparently this was a club rule because of gravity helping the rounds along. I mentioned things like how does gravity affect laser weapons etc and then dropped the bomb that my job in the army is a muntitions specialist and he was talking shit from both a fluff and real life position. I said it all nicely but him and the mates he got over to talk me into it still looked at me like I was a rule breaking arsehole.

Simple solution...

If the opponent looks like they are cheating, point it out to them.
If they deny it, then pack up your models and leave.
If everyone they play against leaves half way through a game, then they will stop cheating.

In a tournament setting, if it looks like they are cheating, point it out to them.
If they deny it, tell the TO.
The TO will likely subtract points from them, they will get screwed on sportsmanship score, and never do it again.
If they give you a low sportsmanship score (which they will), then simply ask the TO to modify the score if necessary.
If the cheating is serious (weighted dice, tape measure with incorrect incriments, etc), then they could be perma-banned from the venue.

I shit you not, this happened just last night.

My opponent had a Tau Stealth Team out in the open and my Genestealers assaulted them. He declares that his team gets to strike first.
When I asked why, he says "because stealth team always counts as being in cover."
I tried to explain to him that initiative penalties are no longer based on the defender being in cover, but on the assaulter passing thru difficult terrain. His rules were from 4th edition and no longer existed in 5th edition.

Guess what his response was?

"Are you really going to penalize me because I have an older codex?"

WTF?

I'm not sure he realizes how close I was to scooping. But I tired to keep a level head, and for the rest of the game I let him do anything he wanted. I never called him on anything after that.
I couldn't let myself look like the bad guy in the situation. (No "Take my toys and go home reputation here"!)

It was our last game though. I won't get drawn into a game with him again.

WTH? Why didn't just say something along the lines of "No, i'm gonna penalize you for trying to cheat. Having an older codex is no excuse for breaking the rules. Hell, you chose to play with Tau even when you found out they sucked in this edition."?

I understand the rules confusion but his response is that of an asshat. But you letting his crappe fly makes you kinda guilty of cheating too. If you don't fight it, you encourage it. Shame on you! :nono:

More on topic:
There's also the guys who likes to use his fingers a lot. When asking about a certain unit or checking LoS he always have to point at things, keeping his finger an inch or 2 away. No, it is not very suspicious you do that every time at all. And who measures their armlength anyway?
Pricks...

Tolerating cheating does not make you the bigger man. It makes you a sissy.

But relax, it's not bad said as it's meant :p

Edit- Settra please try to write in proper english, not that unreadable IM shit. It would make it very easier for me to catch your likely excellent point, but as it stands I'm not sure what you are saying beyond "fucktard cheated with moving!" + some other rant.
And welcome to the forum dude! Always nice with new faces.

well ive had the whole moving the "inch" too far. also had a guy who said "gfor fanascy" that he didnt have to declare what speel he was casting with his warrior priest, i was new and didnt want to argfue even though i ne whe was wrong, git! oh an dtheir was alos the time of the moving feetueses plauge chart, one turn its 3, then 7, then 11, what has he done, moved across teh bored, ummm mate!

Favourite has to be from my old cadian gunline army. So I used to play against a lot of "the hell with shooting, run into combat gribble gribble" armies when a guy with a tyranid army finished his turn, I was finishing off movement and thinking about what to shoot and with what, when he remembered in his eagerness to carve me into bloody chunks he'd forgotten to shoot me into bloody chunks.
So this guy seriously asked if we could skip my turn (not even let him shoot and go back to my shooting) so he could go back to his shooting. When I denied, he claimed bad sportsmanship.
GRRAAAAHHHHH

I must be getting old. I just figured English was his second language. Cause all I got from his whole message was "mate" at the end. Everything else was just unintelligible.
I figured so too until I realised he's from the UK. So I just guessed IM shortenings. But since he can spell out his current location perfectly I assume he's a lazy git.

And lol, he claimed bad sportsmanship because of his own epic fail?
That's just forgetfullness (or idiocy) followed by asshattery. Some people are really weird.

If you find someones post unintelligible I suggest you use the report button or politely suggest a good spell checker.

Its a better way of dealing with it rather than publicly berating someone.

Thats my job.

Also letting someone off the wrong dex issue does not make someone a sissy it make them someone who can't be bothered to have a stupid argument over little plastic men.

If you had said that it would encourage the player continue to try it on in future games you might of had a point.

Just calling someone a sissy is on the edge of personal insults btw.:nono:

I have to laugh because my buddy i play all the time cheats. When he does though he always tells me the next time we talk. I'll be like " i can't believe my guys just died like that" and he'll say "yeah... that's because i cheated... " And the he'll go on to tell me how. I just have to laugh. It's never anything huge but it make me have to keep a tighter eye on things.

woog out!

I have had a few other major cheats but thankfuly most have been in LOTR where i am the master and know the rules better than the local GW staff and as such am often considered an "unofficial Memebr" there.
One i do remeber was that this 1 veteran was battlign this nood(new guy) and desicied it would be funny to try and call down an Orbital bonbardments.....wiht a chaplin.....which has a -BS modifire. Now that was jsut dickish and we quickly slapped him upside the head and thankfuly the new guy saw though it too...tho only that a chaplain can't OB and not the BS thing.
