Yes he can. He just can't be transported with the squad and you use the slower of the movement rates.

Yep.

The only restriction regarding bikes is that if the chaplain has a retinue he may not be mounted on a bike.

But, as mentioned, no transports and he has top move 6" when joined up. Might be best to leave him unattached and just *near* the squad. There's not really any advantage to having him join the squad since ICs can;t be shot at if there's a closer target

Well Litanies of Hate and Fearless are good reasons to attach him to the squad. What I've seen happen is the Chaplian joins one squad, assualts with the squad and wipes out a unit. In his next turn he leaves that unit, joins another unit, and assualts with them into another unit. Moving 12" allows them to jump around to join whatever squad needs him the most.

But it is a good tactic to not have him joined to the squad prior to your turn so that if some one say "lashes" the unit and assualts it then the chaplian isnt lost with that unit as well. This way the chaplian stays viable to join a second unit to give you an excellent counter assualt.

Oh, right.

As a Blood Angels player most of our character abilities are based on proximity rather than whether or not they're in a squad, and the chaplain is almost always in the death company so it's never really come up.

But yeah, prior to the assault, leave him out. Perhaps mount the squad up so he doesn't get slowed down, then disembark in front of the chaplain, walk a turn and then have him join and assault

Yeah but using the Turbo Boost to get across the board into a diffrent squad could be extremely helpfull but as you say it could be more point effictient in smaller games to get a mobile chappy.

However, in close combat, any squad he's leading is Fearless, and he happens to be T4(5) on the bike. It's more cost effective to have the jump pack for mobility, but there's something to be said for paying just for the toughness boost in close combat (since majority toughness is him since he doesn't take hits allocated to the squad.)

also bear in mind that he will suffer from majority toughness when part of a squad, so apart from gettig a twin linked bolter and the turbo boost, it may be more cost effective to just give him a jump pack to dart between squads
that is why you join the squad that is about to assault on your turn. you will only have to worry about it if you massacure and can't sweep into another squad. not to worry though, you'll hve to take a hit on any remaining marines before he has to save any way. If he does take a save you're taking huge amounts of fire any way so the extra toughness does not help as much.

Also Majority Toughness only counts for shooting purposes.. In CC he fights as a seperate unit so all attacks at him MUST take his improved toughness into account.

I used my new Chaplain on a bike tonight and found that he was very effective. The turbo boast giving him a 2+ inv. save really soaked up a lot of heavy fire and he still lived!
This is definitely a great configuration to use for an HQ choice:
-Chappy on a bike
-Artificer armour with Terminator honours
-Bolt pistol
-Frag grenade &
-Teleport homer(Brings my Termies to Me in enemy area)

If I didn't hate choppers I'd say it's rad with awesome sauce. But since I do hate choppers, he's pretty spiffy.
