I mainly play marines but my friend play chaos and we thought of each getting a similar army to the other so i get some chaos and he gets some marines so we can allie when we play doubles[i always end up with the nids kid and we get owned :( ] Anyways i thought of have lots of plaugue stuff so nurgle marines and plaguebearers plus i wanted at least 20 nurglings to swamp my enemies with[people underestimate the littleguy]

Also i would have the DP[only model i have so far] with Daemonic rune, essense, resiliance, armour and manreaper
Also i thought of dreds as heavy support as they can walk forward with my prince and they would OWN anything in cc plus are dangerous with there guns

I dont have the book what would be a good list to start?

With 20 nurglings? Death Guard or Black legion w/Nurgle?

DG-wise, your looking at the DP (no manreaper as it goes over the gifts limit), 20 nurglings, 14 Plaguebearers, 28 Plague marines with 4 rhinos, and 2 dreads w/ TLLC. For a 1850 list.

(gave the plague marines rhinos because the nurglings and plague beares take up 4 troop choices, and the plague marines in rhinos become fast attac after the first 2)

I worry about using Nurgle in a game where you're intending to ally, because Nurgle's Rot could end up wiping out your allied forces; only Marked units will be immune.

Be careful with Dreadnought's. I love walkers, but Chaos Dreads are tough because of their frenzy rolls; any turn they're not doing what you want they're wasting points.

take off 1 dreadnaught and add a few plasma guns and melta guns to take out the fex's (as tyranids knows) and then when u get close to the nasty units like tyrants u can melta gun them ...followed by a charge (the 1 melta shot works wonders) and if u have power fist in squad theres a good chance u could win in first round of combat ...and nurgles rot works wonders lawl

There's a simple solution for your manreaper problem-- drop resilience. You don't get to take it anyway since it comes with the Mark. That frees up 15 points. Honestly, you don't need the Rune on a model that's T5(6). That gives you some more points to play with right there.

I would play Death Guard with them. As a Sons of Horus player, I'm not a huge fan of a predominantly two-mark army. I've always looked at it as it being fluffy to have one or two cult squads (that are of the same cult, at any rate) and restrict myself to that cult's daemons in addition to my Undivided troops, if I even bother with the daemons. Generally, I just use a straight Undivided list with no cult units whatsoever.

I'd load up on plague marines with infiltrate. Seems strange, I know, but it's more cost-efficient than a Rhino, and it can be explained away by having shrugged off all the shots their foes have thrown at them thusfar and just consider the game starting with them having done a lot of the walking in advance instead of actually having worked their way up sneakily. You want to get into close combat with the Death Guard, although you don't really want to be the one charging. Let them come to you-- you've got True Grit, so make use of your bolter shots. You're T4(5), so there's no reason to be shy about getting up close and personal. Space Marines wound you on a 5, after all.

Agreed to a point, but Carnifexes are popular and are often armed with Venom Cannons (and +1BS and a Barbed Strangler making them a Sniperfex), which effectively gives them a 100% chance of hitting that DP with a S10 hit from up to 36" away. Being a MC the DP can be singled out and there could be multiple Sniperfexs in range and LOS.

You still have your armour save though, so it's not all doom n gloom.
