Lets see, just got a chaos dreadnought, but not exactly sure what to do with it, i want to go with one CC weap and one gun, just not sure what to use, i like both twin linked LC and the plasma cannon, but really not sure whats most effective combo, so any advice or insight would be awsome to help me out!

The dreadnought is the only thing in the chaos dex that can use a plasma cannon, so i would use that.
It all depends if you need a tank hunter or something to kill 2+/3+ save infantery. I would keep it a jack-of-all-trades in case of fire frenzy or blood rage.

I'd say It depends solely on the rest of your list, whatever the army lacks the dread can provide whether It's AT: T-L LC or anti-personal PC etc

Another ide is to use a autocannon. Since its damage potensiale is smaller
it will not be shoot at so much, and maybe even surive for more than 2 turns. Since it will surive longer it will kill more, and in the odd battle it will blood frenzy and make it into cc.
What weapon you choose should be an result off 2 things: who you figth on a regular basis, and what you lack in your army.
Personally I think the dreadnought is the wekest heavy support a chaos player can chose. It lacks the fire power and surivebility to all the others, and it is not better in cc than a power fist armed aspiring champion.

Couldn't agree more. While I love the idea behind dreads, they haven't seen table time with me in a loooooong time for those very reasons.

Yeah i decided to go plasma cannon, S7 AP 2 blast with firing frenzy shoots twice
and as a weak heavy support chioce, i dont think so, if you set them up and control them well to one purpose or use them right for their CC weap and gun with the frenzy rolls it can be quite devistating, 2 CC weaps 2 heavy flamers for a CC set up, firing frenzy either it shoots 4 heavy flamer shots, or nothin is in range for heavy flamer and it becomes a blood frenzy, then blood frenzy, if it charges thats 4x2 +1 for charge 9 attacks with a dreadnaught, then firing frenzy for a ranged dread, you shoot everything twice! with what ever set up you choose, and about the blood frenzy, im not 100% about the rule when it remains in CC, it does keep its 6~8 attacks while in close combat correct?

Looking good Daemons. As for the Frenzy rule, iirc you roll for it every turn regardless of where you are. So if you are in cc, you will still roll for it and if you get fire frenzy, the cc will make it become blood rage anyway. Give that dread the mark of Khorne and watch the bits fly.

Thanks and thanks for the clearification on that wraith, since my army uses mainly deamons for CC anything 1k and up along with my DP and a infiltrating CC squad (if they live past the deamon summoning  ) i wanted this dread to be a jack of all trades kinda dread, and i think plasma still gives me that option, great against troops of any kind and light~med vehicles as well :D and if my CC needs support hes there to give it :D

There is a way that you can drill and pin the arms so you can change them around when you want.

Please excuse the Pre-school style Picture (no camera today)

First thing is to drill and pin into the arm mounting of your dreadnought using a bit of metal paper clip (or brass rod).
Marked in yellow
When the pin is firmly glued in and the glue is dry bend the pin upwards so it is at a very slight angle as pictured.

This will allow the pin to grip the arm in place.

Now pop the arm into position and rotate it back and forth between the highest and lowest point you would like your gun to point at.
This will leave a arched score line on the inside of the arm which you can then drill a hole for the pin to go into on that line.

Repeat the process with all your gun arms and you now have choice of which gun to use today.

Vash

PS give it the mark of Tczeench and conflagation if you intend to use is in combat. Every model that attacks the dreadnought take a S6 AP4 hit before resolving it attacks, I have soooo much fun with this

Nice one Vash, that indeed gives you
every option you want and can make.

I have always, more for sentimental reasons
than tactical advantages, used a dreadnought
with my chaos forces.

Except for my old khornate dreadnough all
others have had a plasma cannon. I just love
that thing and while it usually doesn't have the
chance to do damage, when it does....

Whatever you do, give it some kind of gun. My brother has a 2 CCW khornite dread and it's freakin useless. It'll lumber about halfway across the board and get nuked into oblivion, immobilized, or just end up too far away from the action.

Meanwhile my comparable Furioso Dread is a superstar because of Mr Poddy, his bestest buddy/transport ;-)
