Hi everyone, new to the forums and just thought I would share some of my latest models. The first is a basic sniperfex that is completed.

This next model is heirofex with TL devourers. Its a WIP and should be done soon. The gun arms were converted to fit two devourers on each arm.

C&C are welcome.

Hello and welcome, Am liking this looks very nice, did you think about doing the carapace another colour to contrast with black underbody as i think that would take it to another level :D :D .

Perhaps just very lightly tinge the non-carapace parts with a dark blue? I really like the concept, so I wouldn't want to see vivid colours, but just the tiniest hint of something that's not black or grey might make all the difference, without ruining the original effect.

I agree, some very subtle tinting would really pull this scheme off and take away from the monochrome look it has right now. Not that the model looks bad but a bit of another colour on the skin areas would really make it pop.

And that heirofex is awesome!

they look sweet! i do agree with the comment on shading if not to just break the two tone effect, unless thats what you were goin for. Anything thats got a black pallete really, dark greens or blues are quite cool. Plus if you were going for the whole alien effect, they based all of there light shading for them on greens

Thanks for the C&C it is much appreciated.

Yea these are my first two pieces with this scheme and my first foray into blending.

The effect is achieved through about 8 different shades of gray.

I was thinking of adding color but IRL they look fine, at least for me. Anyways its mostly a personal choice kinda thing, some people love it some people don't.

That said I might add a little tint of blue or something, I just worry the effect will be ruined. Still waiting for my battleforce so I can test it out on some gaunts.

I do think they look great as they are, and you certainly don't want much colour at all, or it will ruin the effect, but maybe just a tiny hint of another colour here and there.

But yeah, give it a test on a less important miniature and see what you think. It really is a great paint job. I know I'm thoroughly impressed!

Great work! The limited but finely-honed color application certainly makes the 'Fex look threatening! Be careful adding any additional colors; I think it looks fabulous as is.

In the first picture, the carapace looks just a tad brown. Perhaps a deep deep brown / blackish brown would offer enough of a difference?

Also, If you put a little spark in their eyes, ie, some color, or even glossed them so they glittered a little? Same with the little parts where the skin spreads to see muscle, perhaps a little color in there would really pop.

The model looks close to alive, and it's freaking me out (I'm not a fan of bugs... I'll say that and try to keep my manliness in tact).

I definitely agree with you and the others, wait to experiment on something more expendable.

Looks amazing and I'd love to see anything else you've done. It's fairly obvious you know what you're doing!

Very stylish and creepy, really has that Alien feel, really like that heirofex conversion as well. It think this colourscheme should also work when the army
grows, although to could of course experiment a bit on some smaller spare
models. Perhaps by adding just a tiny amount of colour (dark green?) to some of
the highlights, still keep the models nice and dark while it can also help to add
some variety to broods. Although you could also to this realtively simple by varying
the eye colour of your various broods, simply but effective.

Looking forward to seeing your horde grow!

Eye colour and maybe those little vent looking things on the arms and legs are the perfect spot for just a spot of colour. I don't mean like a bright green or anything however. I would do something like blue or green that is damn near but not quite black, just enough to notice when you look closely at it basically.

At the same time, it does have a very Aliens effect going on which suits me just fine (seen Aliens more than any other 6 movies combined) and I see no reason to ruin it either. Look at it this way, any type of colour suggestions I would make would only be to further enhance this effect. If I was to do Nids, it would be Aliens all the way :D

Those bugs really work well, and are very striking, i think the only thing i'd chage is to maybe pick out the tongue in a dark purple, the eyes, and the ridged bits you get in the arms and guns, just ot break it up. But as others have suggested keep it very dark, so it doesn't destroy the overall feel.
