A question regarding relationship between Iron Tenth and Alpha Legion.

Horus Heresy Book 2, Massacre, p. 68 saying; Manus taking on overarching battlefield command role over other, later-found Primarchs on many occasions. The long term result of these joint endeavours would be
mixed for the Legion, leading to close and lasting allegiances in some cases, as with the Emperor's children and their Primarch, and lingering resentment and malcontent bordering on internecine strife in others, as with the Alpha Legion.

in contrast,

Horus Heresy Book 3, Extermination, p. 85 saying; Conversely, if the Alpha Legion could be said to have had an ally or friend among the Primarchs, it was Horus himself, and a potent ally he would proven. Horus saw the Legion as a unique weapon in te Imperium's arsenal, its ambition laudable and its tactics not so very far removed from those favoured by his own Legion.
Futhermore, the XXth Legion is also known to have successfully campaigned besides both the Dark Angels and the Iron Hands without incidents(possibly surprisingly) on multiple occasions before the outbreak of the war of the Horus Heresy.

I personally think two paragraphs are a little...inconsistent, to say the least.

p.s Also, Extermination P.86 saying; He is recorded as having sought out the comradeship and council of none of his brother Primachs save perhaps Horus, although some reports that place him also on Caliban and Terra on various times cannot be easily dismissed.

Obviously, it seems 'Caliban' means the Lion, and 'Terra' means the Emperor.

Please give me more information regarding the forgeworld books, I find them fascinating and the information they reveal regarding the primarchs. Shower me with data, spoilers, information, I am eager to assimilate knowledge.

Inconsistent, to some point. In general i feel both assessement can be true. There can be resentment, but its alpha legion we are talking about...they campaigned successfully alongside their "enemy" to dull them with a sense of false security...later, in fact, they betrayed!
however this is just me interpetating, i'm not going to defend the poor writings of Heresy books or Wh40k fluff in general :)

I brought this up earlier in the Extermination thread.

At first look, it does, but you have to see that "successfully campaigned beside without incident" and "lingering resentment and malcontent bordering on internecine strife" are not mutually exclusive.

For example, they could have fought together while hating each other's guts. This hate could bubble up into almost physical violence...but never did quite hit the boiling point.

At the end of the day, the mission is accomplished, no incidents happened, but they can still hate each other. Or at least the Iron Hands can hate the Alpha Legion.

1. Oh, you have already brought this issue up? I have not visited Heresy Online for over two months, thus could not see all of the threads.

2. Thank you for answer. My question is solved explicitly and completely.
