Am I reading this right?
In 8th edition, cannons count as a template attack the size of the cannonball (in other words, of a very tiny size). In the section regarding characters riding monsters, it states that if they're hit by a template attack, both the monster and the riders are affected, and it specifically lists cannons as a type of attack that would do this.
This means if your hero is riding a dragon, and you're hit by a cannonball, then both the dragon and the hero are hit, and suffer d6 S10 hits each.
Worse yet, if a Stegadon is hit, then every single model riding on top of it, including any priests, has to take d6 S10 hits.
If this is correct, this should pretty much end Stegadon/Engine lists. Both will still be used, but not nearly as often as they used to be.
Or am I missing something?
