I don't think so, mainly because of the difficulty in ensuring everyone is patched to the same state.

And nobody likes big 40page long FAQ's either.

Not hard to tell your opponent or check that you have the latest version of whatever on set dates. I would assume that they wouldn't just randomly throw them out, but would likely have a "Patch Day" what was scheduled as the the 1st of every 3rd month or something March/June/Sept/Dec or whatever so it hits before the major campaign seasons.
Equally I am not saying all books continually need a major overhaul. But fixing a few things that they can clearly see haven't worked should be routine maintenance. THOUGH I could see a backlash of "OMG YOU MADE XXXX GOOD THEN YOU NURFED THEM!!!" or "You only made them good so you could sell something that wasn't selling, and now you made them average."

It sounds like you need to have a discussion with the gamer(s) at the FLGS about rules, and understanding rules.

If the group as a whole agrees to do things in a certain way (a la you get -2d6 for DSing withing 2 skulls or whatever was talked about earlier) then EVERYONE plays it that way.

bring a pad and pen if you do this.

my 2 cents...at my club its this simple.
1.predeployment explain/show list/models
2.deployment..just put a model on top of rhino so this squad is in that rhino.
3:reserve can be kept secret.
4:fortifications as number 2..just place a model on top.
5: if playing a player who is being a dick..pack up go home.

Hey Folks!

Just thought I'd chime in on the transports thing.

Just prior to the standard deployment method it mentions that units may be deployed inside buildings, fortifications or transport vehicles within their deployment zones.

It's pretty tenuous logic, but we've generally played that as the vehicle is deployed first and then the squad is deployed into it. Obvious restriction is that dedicated transports can only have their respective troops deployed into them.

As you're deploying into the field, we treat this as having to declare which transport you're deploying into.

That said, I have played games with the hidden cargo dynamic, and it never changed much in the grand scheme of things.

It's hard to put any hard and fast rules to it, but like everybody has already mentioned, I'd ask permission to play like this rather than expect it. Could always be a laugh for both sides!

Welcome on Heresy, Rush!
The "hidden cargo" rules seems funny :)
