You should at least buy the new book for skaven. 8th edition isnt for another month so you have a bit of time to get used to the game now. alot of crap is going to change though. It definitely is going to affect how I field my lizards.

Ok here's a basic army for 1000 Points which is relatively good at magic and shooting

Heroes
Chieftain (Warlock-augmented Weapon, Enchanted Shield, Warplock Pistol) - 108 Points

Warlock Engineer (Level 1, Doomrocket, Warp-energy Condenser) - 115 Points

Core Units:
25 Clanrats (Shields, spears, full command, Doom-flayer) 200 Points

25 Clanrats (Shields, spears, full command, Warpfire Thrower) - 215 Points

20 Slaves - 40 Points

20 Slaves - 40 Points

20 Slaves - 40 Points

Special Units
6 Poisoned Wind Globadiers (Bombardier with Death Globe) - 90 Points

Rare Units
Doomwheel - 150 Points

Total: 998 Points

Hope this helps

Thx murdock for the list, I gues I'll change some things: I'm gonna drop the globadiers, and as ranged weapons I'll use warp-lighting cannons and ratling guns, mostly warp-lightning for two reasons: 1. the name is cool 2. I like to blow myself up(one of the reasons why I play orks in 40k)

The countdown on the GW sight is for the advance order date for the new rule book. The street date for the rulebook is on the 10th of July (with .pdf errata for the armies on the 6th-If I remember correctly-or alledgedly).

Ok then, here's another Shooty Magic Skaven List:

HQ:
Plague Priest (Level 2, Warpstone Scroll) - 185 Points
Warlock Engineer (Level 2 Wizard, Warpmusket, Warp Energy Condenser) - 135 Points

Troops:
20 Clanrats (Spears, Shields, Full Command, Ratling Gun) - 175 Points
25 Slaves (Slings, Shields, Musician) - 77 Points
20 Night Runners (Slings, Full Command, Warp Grinder) - 228 Points

Special Units:
5 Jezzails (Sharp Shooter) - 110 Points

Rare Units:
Warp Lightning Cannon - 90 Points

Total: 1000 Points

Perhaps this is possibly more to your liking?

Yeah though I wanted to keep the doom wheel, I meant warp-lightnings in clanrats units(I though that was possible)
I'm gonna try something myself based on the lists you provided:
HQ:
Plague Priest(Lvl 2, Warpstone Scroll)-185 points
Warlock Engineer(Lvl 2, Warpmusket, warp-energy condenser)-135 points

Core:
20 Clanrats (Spears, Shields, Full Command, Ratling Gun) - 175 Points
20 Clanrats (Spears, Shields, Full Command, Ratling Gun) - 175 Points
20 Slaves- 40 points
20 Slaves- 40 points

Special:
5 Jezzails- 100

Rare:
Doomwheel- 150
THats 1000 points, I guess this list will work, so I'm gonna start Skaven when I finished my lizzie's army(around 40 days work, AAAI)

If your clan rat units arnt 30 men strong i will tell you now they will die a horrible horrible death (Mostly well running away) Skaven leadership is helped by ranks so go for the big swarm!
Im gonna change the plague priest for a warlock, that will free up enough points to upgrade 1 unit to 30(6x5) and 1 to 25(5x5), that will be enough.

EDIT: MAybe it will free up enough to upgrade both to 30

Ok I got one question, where should I put my warlock I know three options:
1. Lead from the back, but with spells wich need LoS his own unit will block his LoS
2. On his own, but this makes him vulnerable to shooting and magic
3. In the front rank of a unit, now he can cast LoS spells but he will die in combat.

None of these options seems good, anybody knows where to put them??

there is only one option. Your Hero's and command have to be in the front rank, till you use vermin valor at least.
