The first one actually jus tlooks like a reconfigured defiler.

What they should do, if they're smart, would be to come up with a Defiler Upgrade Frame that comes with an extra CCW arm or two, a lascannon mount and then the tail and whatever else is needed to make a scorp.

Package it in with new defilers and up the price like $5

Ultimately, all you need for the scorpion is the stuff to make the tail. It's six reaper autocannon bits and one of the close combat arms, as best as I can tell.

You really don't need the lascannon mount... and admittedly, you shouldn't take it anyway. The defiler has always been around for its battle cannon-- you can't fire both that and the lascannons, and now you're more likely to be engaged in close combat with the thing anyway so it won't be shooting at all. If you want a walking lascannon, take a dreadnought.

I love that the defiler is a lightly armored vehicle (well armored for a walker), but if you take pieces *away* it suddenly gains extra AV and becomes super-heavy ;-)

im halfway through making mine. you need two defilers, the main bodies of both are cut and glued together to give the scorpion slots for three pairs of legs (one extra is needed from second defiler) and a pair of claws. to make the tail you need either the two extra claws or one claw and a leg but i used two claws and a leg (makes the tail bigger) then extra armour is added around the bodie of the scorpion the rest is obvious
