Right so i bought the BA codex today, and i really like alot of it; I was told that Sanguinary Guard don't really cut it...

But my favourite was the Death Company, I think they look so nice, Does anyone fancy offering up help towards a good Death Company themed Army.

Love the look of chaplain lemartes; Is he just a Chaplain; Can't see points for him!

Any way around 1 squad of Death Company?

Any help would be really appreciated! I'm brand new to Blood Angels, but very excited to use them! They look wicked.

Asteroth, check his special rules, i like his axe! and he has the nice perk of looking better than anything else the BA have to offer!
Death co are just that on the table. they are good at killing and dieing.... nothing else. very expensive price tag and they need a transport (LRC/storm raven) if u want them to do something other than chase their tails. The Idea of a death co army is way better than the table top application.

My friend plays a Death Company themed army. He plays Asteroth, 2 Baal predators, and 2 squads of DC.
Im not sure what else.

Playing against Death Company is fun.
Drive a Trukk past them and they all start chasing it back into their own deployment zone.

Outflanking is a Death Company lists worse nightmare.

their statline is amazing. the models are awesome.

i still wouldn't take them: they're expensive, cost a lot to equip with a jet pack, and can't claim objectives. they can't even do a Descent of Angels drop + assault in the same turn like the Vanguard can.

they're certainly not crap, i just think Blood Angels have better units than this.

and Astorath is the man. his model rules (meat armor? i'll take two please!) his stat line is worthwhile, and he doesn't cost more than a Land Raider AND he can join squads (looking at you, Mephiston and he Sanguinore).

search you out a list and figure out what you want to do, there's a lot of BA lists scattered in the Space Marine forums.

Ok, i tried to sit down and make a list, but i'm so unsure of how the army fits together, I didn't know where to start!

Recently my brother has been running his army with a Death Company themed, with good results (in a setting somewhere between competitive and friendly). There are two important keys to making them work.

1) They need a transport
2) The unit needs to be kept cheap
2.5) DC dreadnaughts are awesome.

He runs a small DC in a SR with the dreadnaught hitching a ride. If he is going first, he turbo-boosts. If he goes second, he holds them in reserve and deepstrikes onto a beacon.

The rest of his army is Baal/Razorespam.

As mentioned; Astorath removes the DC limit via Redeemer of the Lost (page 82) & Lemartes has a clear points cost (bottom of page 88 in your codex).

Can we know your limititations (time/money), what points value you want & how competitive your games are (because if you want to win tournaments then stay away from DC).

Well, Money wise it's not much of an issue, i plan on buying this slowly, hopefully getting a job soon.

In no hurry at all really, I'm happy to sit and read the codex, decide on a theme, attempt to take in all the stats. When i'm happy with a list, I'll just start slowly buying it.

And thanks for clearing some stuff up, i noticed Lemartes has the stat table in Elites, I was looking in HQ's! And i didn't realise Astorath had another special rule explained in the back - All i've read is the first few Pages at the front, about some of the unit types and the fluff of them!

EDIT: I'll note that i'm not 100% of DC!! I'm 100% open to everything, just DC caught my eye in the hobby section, T'is all!

i'd consider 17 scoring models at 1500 a gamble, if playing against, easy. you Hammernators are a good idea, but i think you're lacking Troops. i'd at least drop the Furioso to add another Bloodrazor unit, and i can't help but feel that your list would better served with Vanguard Vets to do some tying up/shooting whilst your Troops do whatever they have to.

Libby can't go with them, so i'd recommend taking another HQ; Gabriel Seth perhaps?

I'm surprised how slowly i'm picking up Blood Angels, I got into Chaos Much easier, and i know BA are completely different, but i thought it'd pick it up faster; Still got no idea what works well with other units :\
Not many 1,500 BA lists on the SM army list forum, all seem to be 1750+

Really got no idea in what direction i'd like to go!

Are Librarian Dreadnoughts good? I really like Librarians and the Dreads for BA, are they not so competitive (Well, i say competitive, Effective is a better word, as i'm not competing.

Well i have some years of 'ALWAYS TAKE E-A ON YOUR TRANSPORTS' nailed into my head from playing Chaos.

Is that not the same here?

And it looks alright, meaning it looks alright.
I cant really spot any flaws with the list.

And regarding the Extra Armour in comparison to CSM, i generally only run EA with Zerkers.
As your squads are basically just making the Razors scoring rather than needing to rush into combat, personally i think EA isnt quite as compulsory.
Dropping EA all round could almost pay for a 3rd Vindi.:grin:

I think a DanteWing list could be fun.
Dante + SangG + GangP.

Sure, they might not be good against Mech, or quite a few other lists, but they would be a LOT of fun all deep striking in.
They would screw over other marines.

MMm, well that's the thing really. When you say fun, your probably a much more sporting player than i am.

If a game goes well, I find it fun, but if i'm running a list where i know it's not going to be effective, it's not so much.

And i'm judging by your response DC and SG lists are only meant for fun, not effectiveness.
