Playing tau this weekend (farsight enclave) so wanted to make a fast, had hitting force.

Reclusiarch

Priest - JP + sword

RAS - MG + sword in Razorback - TLHB
RAS - MG + sword in Razorback - TLHB
Assault squad x10 - 2x flamer + fist + melta bombs
Death Company - 2x axe in crusader - MM

Baal Pred - TLAC + HB
Baal Pred - TLAC + HB

let me know what you think, I've never played tau never mind farsight so i don't know what to expect. Any help is appreciated :)

I assume the DC/Reclusiarch are in the Crusader, only thing I would nudge in this list is swapping that tank to a Redeemer and using the 10 points to give Melta Bombs to your two Assault squad sergeants. Also...a Power Fist and Melta Bombs is a bit overkill. Moving the MBs to your Priest splits up the effective armour attacks and allows for more chance of the ka-boom result we're all looking for. The few games I have faced Tau in my Baal Predator was the star of the game. I didn't use two because I would have ruined the other dude, I'm sure you'll love all those AP4 shots when it gets in range.

For the record I don't support 5 man RAS in Razorbacks with Meltas in a BA army. I tried REALLY hard when 6th hit (it's what got me into dual Hand Flamers) to make them work, but invariably I have given up and left Jump Packs on my marines or put them in Drop Pods. Hoping that changes with a new Codex, I'd be willing to play 5 man Tactical squads with a special weapon if we get in line a bit with the SM 'dex.


As an aside, adding the number of models in the squad and including their Dedicated Transports in line with them makes it a bit easier for people to read your lists. I get what you're writing because I love me a good BA list, but putting down:

5x man RAS - MG and Sword in a Razorback w/ TLHB

is way easier to follow even for me. Not necessary, but who knows what could come from an easy to interpret list.

alright will do :) thanks for the advice by the way. just one thing, should i consider swapping out the assault squad for a fragioso in a pod? I don't seem to like the thought of only one against tau, but hey, could be a great distraction to get my tanks up no?

I wouldn't, you've got the two Baals that can move up fast with the Razorbacks. Focus on that and you'll be good. If I were to include a Fragioso it would be two of them in Pods, then I'd Pod the DC, now there's no Raider....whole different ball game :grin:

Well, I actually narrowly one with this list playing kill points. I chose to put the death company in a pod instead, good thing too as the raider got blown up turn 2 by a riptide. however, the combined TLAC from the baal preds took it out soon after. For the death company, they were fantastic, they took out a stealth suit team an xv8 and 2 fire warrior squads and were still left with 3 models and the reclusiarch. Was really impressed by those units in particular, the rest were kinda meh though. Thanks a lot for the advice ntaw, a lot of it seems to be paying off :)

The Baals, DC, and Fragioso units are what to take against Tau from my experiences. What was this list, 1250? Here's a list that I just made that I suddenly like a lot:

Reclusiarch - MBs

Fragioso - DP

Fragioso - DP

9x DC - 2x Axes

5x man Scout squad - snipers, cloaks

Baal - TLAC, HB sponsons

Baal - TLAC, HB sponsons

Vindicare Assassin

I'd actually sooner go Unbound with it, but the Scouts will be good for holding an objective and peppering the shots on every turn. I love Vindicare assassins, he's great against vehicles with his S10 AP2 shot that has a 72" range and ignores cover. Much needed support for this list, since the Furiosos and maybe Reclusiarch are the only things that will actually do anything to a tank and they have to be in CC to do it.
