Hey all, figured I'd give a bit of a more traditional/fluffy SM kind of thing with my BA this time around. I have often scorned some of the Formations that GW comes out with that cater to those with huge collections or even larger wallets (and amounts of time), and gotta say when I first opened up the 7th ed. Codex to find the Battle Company Formation in there I was a little saddened by the 'cut and paste' nature it was offered up in. I mean, yeah we need our Tactical marines, but now you wave 6 units of them in our face just to get ObSec and the Red Thirst? Fffuuuuu....wait a second. I totally have six five man squads of Tactical marines and there's no restrictions on the Formation. Building this list has made me look at my collection of models very differently, even maybe given me a goal for collecting. One thing that I've noticed is that my painstakingly converted Captain with Power Sword and Axe is pretty much invalidated by Valour's Edge coming in at 10 points less. Ah well...he's a showpiece in the army and will likely get relegated to use in an exceptionally fluffy Vanguard squad one day far down the line. I enjoy converting more than painting anyway.....only problem is that the more things I make up the more I have to paint! :angry:
Anyway, here's the list. In an effort to keep it playable in smaller games I've made this out for 2k, but it can easily spiral out from there with the addition of more Transports and the purchase of ~30/40 more models to bulk out to 10 man squads.

2k bang on. There's a lot of wargear that can move around in this list, but I would absolutely love to hear someone else's ideas on it. I get so damn caught up in what I think is the 'best' way to play a unit that I sometimes can't think of new uses or kit ideas. What's even more fun though is that this rough layout of models can be used as a swanky starting ground to a 4k list of almost every single BA model I own (barring some unique characters and a box kit or two that I would need to not proxy a few models). Without further adieu, my collection of Blood Angels:
