I created this list some time ago and posted it on warseer. Still haven't managed to get it all together but thought it might be worth getting the opinions of those here. With the current trend of mech eldar I hope it'll also make a nice change. It's also heavily themed.

Enough babbling though, the list.

It's for 1500pts

Avatar.

Autarch, mandiblasters, powersword and fusion gun.

6 Striking scorpions, exarch, chain sabres, shadowstrike

6 Fire dragons

6 Banshees

8 Dire avengers, exarch, extra catapult, defend

8 Dire avengers, exarch, extra catapult, defend

8 Dire avengers, exarch, power sword and shimmer shield, defend

4 Shining spears

5 Warp spiders, exarch, additional deathspinner

5 Swooping hawks, exarch, intercept

4 Dark reapers.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Please let me know what you think of this list.

take out a dire avenger squad and add in a wraitlord, you need some heavy hitters
on the other hand, you have a lot of bodies in that army
i dont think you need all of them, but if thats the way you wanna go, go for it!

Well thanks for the reply but it feels a little "where's the wraithlord?" How would one really help this army? He's tough but he's slow and without any psykers there's the annoying possibility of wraithsight being an issue. He also only a couple of attacks and people are very aware of how to deal with them now.

If I did include one I think I'd have change several other parts of the army.

Thanks for the interest though.

Thanks for the comment. It's been frustrating not getting much feedback on it.

This is a design I'm working towards for fun games but I also feel it could work competitively with a bit of practice.

A pheonix lord could add a lot to the army. However the points are tight. Even the cheapest is almost 100pts more expensive than my autarch. (Plus they don't provide the master strategist rule.) Which is of great help to the swooping hawks and all the units that would be off table in omega level games. To include a pheonix lord I'd probably have to drop one of my units. If I dropped something it would more likely be the Avatar. Maugan Ra would be the replacement though I'm unsure as to how I'd find the remaining points for him.

1500pts?

I'd get an EML toting Exarch in the DR's to up your ranged AT fire. 2 units of DR's would be preferable as well.

The General; Why would the Autarch be out of character? He's followed many paths of the warrior. I expected him to nicely fit the theme.

Dakari-mane; Yes it's 1500pts, I'm sorry I missed it out in my first post. (I'll edit it in a minute.)

I admit an exarch with missile launcher would be handy but to make him reliable I'd have to give him fast shot as well. Which is quite pricey. (I roll terribly against tanks.) Also my experience both with and against dark reapers isn't good. Either opponents avoid them because they go down first and they know where they are. Or they get shot to pieces early on. (Small numbers make casualties hurt more.) I'm tempted but would definately have to change my avenger units.

Thanks for the comments.

Without an Exarch with Withdraw on the shining spears i found them to be a bit of a waste, especially if they end up getting tied down after not killing a unit that they should have (they tend to do that). I don't know if its out of theme, but i would actually ditch them and get another unit of Hawks, identical to the ones you have at the moment, to bust those skimmers etc.

Looks al right otherwise :)

I know what you mean but I intend to use them to finish off units already in combat and serverely weakened. They are my reserve to come in and finish off or swing important combats I've already commited to. My dice rolls are far too fickle for me to trust them to work on their own without an exarch with withdraw.

Plus if we're talking about busting skimmers the spears can have a go in the shooting phase with their lances. They have the lance rule so can have a go at almost anything. (The extreme short range is a problem but they are good against skimmers.) Plus with their jetbikes they can hop back in the assault phase. Something the hawks can't do if it all goes wrong. (Not that it'll help much but it's something.)
