Mine.... I wrote it myself.

Generically speaking, I'd have to say the TSons. The only Chaos Legion to be stabbed in the back by the Emperor while still loyal to the Imperium of Man. Old dude on the throne must consider that his biggest brain-fart yet.

Orks. They have no corny backstory (and whatever backstory they have is a complete mystery)

Orks do, they were created by a long extinct race called Brainboyz, have no fear of death (See codex Necrons). Also they know how to have a good chukkle, at their friend or enemies expense. They have genetic knowledge incoded in them, they are part plant and fungus, have no male or females, and come in different "sub-species". Thats some cool, weird, alien, sh%*! They all are psykers, and their tech is part conventional, part psykic resonance. Did you read the part in codex Necrons where the Deciever is talking and calls them "Krorks". What's with that? Mysteries are cool. They also have the best stories. For an example of this read the storiy in the New Ork 'Dex called "Tuska Deamonkilla". Nuff said. Fer da Waaagh!

Krorks are what the Old ones called the Orks when they first made them.

i think the Guard have the most intricute backgrounds (i hate them sooo much...):p

SM- Genetically engineered super soldier. Reamed out of every Sci-Fi novel since Starship Troopers.

CSM- A bit more cool, since they ARE evil, after all, but still. Way too generic.

IG- The Spetsnaz of tomorrow. Bleh.

Eldar- Now we're getting somewhere. Ancient, incredibly advanced. Almost like the Protoss. Wait, what?

Tyranids- Alien bugs. Ooo. That's new.

Necrons- Living Dead. Lame-O.

Orks- Well, J.R.R. Tolkein could NEVER have seen this coming.

DE- Eh, pointy-headed sadists. Not bad, not good either.

Inquisition- New, more lenient, Spanish Inquisition.

Tau- Bor-ring. Fish headed blue meanies with mind-controlling Ethereals.

Overall? The Kroot take the cake. They're the most original. Plus, they're Kroot. What's not to like?

I'd have to say necrons, I really like the fluff behind the whole way they've had this massive impact on the galaxy that is only just being discovered.
My favorite aspect of the fluff however has to be the great crusade.
The whole idea that the imperium was broken apart by the warpstorms and because of the lack of communication fragments of humanity lost all their ties to the imperium is not only interesting but is a scenario that has been carried out multiple times in mankind's history.

The Great Crusade made the Imperium interesting to me. Fighting ten thousand years after the greatest war in existance is kind of anticlimactic. Plus, weedy Ultrabeakies would've been the slightly-less-weedy-but-still-really-weedy-compared-to-other-Legions Ultrabeakie Legion.

And the Tau would still be cesspools on T'au, the Eldar would still be running like the pointy-headed panzees they are, Chaos wouldn't exist, Orks (well, Orks will be Orks.), IG would be much cooler, Tyranids wouldn't be eating everyone, and Necrons are still sealed up in airtight pouches, two shelves down in the fridge.

Eldar-not elves but same physich. I like the story of the Great Fall, very good portrail of a race that was great but fell (or did they!) because they were overly sensative (ancestors of Shakespear)

Night Lords. A whole pack of nutcases who get told "go for your life" by the Emperor and then get bollacked about it. They then give the finger to everybody and head out on there own. The Primarch then sets himself up to be killed to validate what happened. Awsomness.

Finally someone agrees with me. Ironically, some parts of the peaceful side of ork society (yes, there is a peaceful side) are closer to modern society than the Imperium of Man is.

Yay Harry Hill moment....Anyway I think the the Imperium of Man is more out of it than we think as the Eldar and orks were created by the old ones to attack the necrons so thats a big war. Plus the Imperium of man is against Chaos. The people that don't really have a nemisis are the Tau which is quite interesting.(tyranids nemisis is everyone in the 40k galaxy)

Tau Meteorologist:
"The Eastern Fringe is experiencing heavy downpours of Tyranids. Followed by light sporefall and Death"

Seriously though arn't Tau the exact oposites of the 'Nids? They are each others Nemisis, I think. Ones almost totally geared to shooting and another geared towards assaulting. My 2 teef.
