Just wondering if anyone can help me out.

Need 4 Battlewagons, but want something different (and cheaper) than the GW ones.

Can anyone give me any tips, or recommend any suitable non-GW tanks to modify?

Need 4 of them, and hoping to get all 4 for around $80AUD (50GBP, 70USD) delivered.
Seen a couple on ebay for around 9-10GBP delivered, but unsure if they are suitable or not.

Any advise or pics of similar conversions are very much appreciated.

Well you could Orkify landraiders, they'ed be different to everyone elses, but it's not gonna be any cheaper. Ebay is your best bet.

You could try tanks from Pig Iron Miniatures with some Ork bits from bits sites. I've seen a Leman Russ Punisher Chrome Dog made from one and it doesn't look to bad.

I've found this on http://www.emodels.co.uk/plastic-kits/club-sdkfz-2511-ausf-halftrack-48007-p-16188.html

It's supposed to be 1/48 in scale, so it might be big enough, not entirely sure and it's one there for under £20. Take the model as the base and just add stuff to it, move the track guards ect ect.
not sure that half track will be big enough, the ork battlewagon is quite a significant model and that half track looks close to the size of the wartruck.

Probably need something around 1:35 or 1:32.

The Battlewagon is 15cm x 7.5cm roughly isnt it?
Pretty sure 1:32 or 1:35 scale tanks are the same dimensions.

a 1/35th german half track is about the same size as a GW battlewagon, you could also use the hull of any 1/35th german tank as a base for a BW, say a tiger 1 or even a stug III would be a good start

I've seen people on this forum scratch build orky tanks. Perhaps you could try and make your own, don't be scared to ask help from people with prior experience in making them. Although time comsuming this option could turn out to be very cheap

Sorry, I should expand on my previous post really.

I intend to build my own Battlewagons. I always like to have at least one of the GW minis in my army.

The main reason is so I have one to scale from when building a second from scratch, the other less important reason is so that I have one to use for strictly GW only situations.

pretty sensible out look vash, i have been toying with the battle wagon conundrum lately and have considered splitting one kit and sharing it between two conversion projects, i love the look of the current range but want everything to be unique in a traditional Orky style.
Plus in dont want things to be just a kit bash i would like to get creative, alot of the models for orks have been cad designed, but the designs have a very plasticard feel to them.

Would this kit be suitable???

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180516654042

Would need to remove the turret, and make a floor for it out of plasticard to represent it being open topped.
Would also need to make up Deffrolla's.

Sent the seller a message regarding the dimensions...

Dear eBay Member: #######
Glad to tell you that with 120mm main gun, and the size for the tank is about 20*10*5CM.
Best regards

Should i buy them?
Or look for something else?

EDIT: Link doesnt appear to be working. :(

Try going to http://myworld.ebay.com.au/uk.deal/
And type "72m1" into the search for that seller.

try and od the link again, sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to get an ebay link working i find
Tried it about 10 times, and tried changing the link slightly.
The forum script keeps redirecting it to some "rover" ebay link and stuffs up the url. Its an issue with the forum.

If you go to the second link and search "72m1" from that seller, you should find it.
