So I've recently gotten into Battlestar Galactica in a big way, and, as a geek, when I find something I like, I generally explore all the various aspects it has to offer. I was down at my FLGS earlier today, and saw that, at some point in the past couple of years, a BSG RPG had been made. I play a pretty eclectic mix of RPGs, in addition to DH and RT, I have experience with dnd, shadowrun, and various other more off the beaten track rulesets.

My basic question boils down to this. Has anyone actually played it, and if so, what system does it use, and was it a fun experience? Or just a half assed attempt to cash in on a franchise?

Its based on the cortex engine which the Firefly RPG also uses.
Compared to the history a and fluff that Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy offers its not the best game. That and the fact that most of the RPG is based only on the first season of the show. It's easy to see that most of the Book is rushed and disorganized as it hasn't been proof read.

Sad because the BSG universe is so awesome and would have so much depth for good adventures. Best making a homebrew setting or Hijacking a different RPG system.

Always good to see other fans of the show.

Thanks man, good to know. In my opinion, the serenity RPG is a clunkier version of the shadowrun system, which is already incredibly clunky. XD

Sad to say, but it looks like I'll have to give this one a pass.

Yeah man, I was pretty sad when I saw what had become of it.
On the upside there is talk of more BSG to make it to TV, and I'm not talking about Caprica. Possible something to do with the first Cylon War. Now that would be sick.
