Had a bet with a guy at work for the stakes of one boxed set of a Troop Choice. He stated that BFM Space Marines couldn't be done up to a tabletop quality and I disagreed. Well after much talking and debate I was given 1 hour, had to only use 3 citadel brushes (fine detail, standard brush, and small drybrush) no converting, and just the painting had to be done. Took me 5 minutes to dig the sprue out of storage boxes. Let me know what you guys think. The pic ain't the best because I had to "box" it as my neighbor was kinda a referee.

3 colors, basecoat, preferablly highlighted and shadded is what I call tabletop. Question really is would you have a problem with an oponent playing this on the table, and does it look decent for day to day play?

I agree that there is nothing wrong with them, which was the point of the bet. I will say the detail is a little soft but not a handicap. I should have kept my big mouth shut though and gone with 2 hours of time. I forgot to figure in assemble/clean up time and basecoating. I figure when I get the guy back Saturday I can finish up doing highlights, eyes, drill out the bolt pistol. Lesson learned though is dry to the touch spray paint does soak up colors ALOT.

Add some flock to the base, you shouldn't have any problems. I have some pics of some painted BFM SM to VERY high standards. I'll put some up when I get home from my dismal working environment.

Passed. I have seen far far worse on some peoples 'completed' armies.

Definately passed. There's a kid who comes to my GW whose BA army is six different colors, most of which is a solid blobular coat of paint (His marines look like he dipped them in paint a few times. Bleh.)
